Temporary blogs used as triggers/coded messaging?

On my blog, I have Site Meter, a visit-tracker. One of the visitors to my blog was referred by another blog called Golf Club Grip Size. Nothing could be less interesting to me -- however I wondered who this could be, so I clicked on it. And it seems to me very strange indeed. It's in English, but the words make no sense in order, and sprinkled throughout with just ... odd terms. It's a brand-new blog, and I was thinking that if intelligence agencies used to communicate through newspapers, why not now through blogs? Much more accessible. i had same thoughts about certain spam I received. I checked it and saw there are websites that serve as "robot" spammers, and you can actually use the robot to send messages to people you want to span by addiing their address to a specific "thread" or "command line" in that website. its pretty sophisticated, if you want to encode communication and make it look random (the sender would that "root website" and the sender line would be the address of a vendor), but the message would be "one to one". I felt it is also used to send cues or triggers to victims. <p></p><i></i>

This is a new spam technique. While I suppose it could be put to even more nefarious uses than spam, spam is what it's about. Jeff's whole blog was mirrored in one of these. The random words are put in to avoid spam filters.<br><br>It's getting MUCH MUCH worse since Google took over Blogspot. In fact, I think it is some fault of how Google so intrusively operates that allows these "spam blogs -- splogs" in the first place.<br><br>Sorry you are a victim. Thanks, Dreams End and IR. I am relieved. This happened one day after I started reading RI, which freaked me out even more. Glad to know this.<br><br>However, the principle involved is not out of the realm of possibility, I would guess. I still wonder if they do this. <p></p><i></i>

These kind of things are just link farming spam... copying real content or randomising gibberish to get past filters, and full of links to give their pages better search engine rankings.<br><br>Spam is bad enough, I don't believe there's any more sinister purpose here... if only because no real human would bother to actually read these sites in most cases!<br><br>However, i guess it would actually be a good way to transmit codes, after all, noone's gonna think to look on one of the millions of link farming and URL squatting sites that have totally clogged up the www for any meaningful content... But then again, I'm sure there are better ways. <p></p><i></i>

Sometimes I get an email consisting of a bunch of unrelated words. My impression is that there are mind control triggers in there somewhere, and I try not to read them and hit "Delete" immediately. --MaryK <p></p><i></i>

The thing is tho, that EVERYONE gets those! It's just normal spam! The purpose of the random text is simply to defeat spam filters. The more spammers lists your email address is on the more you get. I've been using the net for ages and have my email address posted all over the place, so I get tonnes. Most of it does actually end up in my bulk mail folder despite the spammers' attempts to fool the software, and goes unread. Plus I can almost always determine from the title and the address it comes from whether or not a message is spam or not and delete accordingly without reading.<br><br>What I'm trying to say is that your hypothisis seems very unlikely; why would anyone try to put triggers or hidden messages in an email that by its very nature will most likely be deleted unread? It just doesn't seem very practical to me!? <p></p><i></i>
