The problem seems to be the home page won't update, even though I can create new posts.

I'm sure it's just blogger's bugginess, but I don't trust its parent, Google. I've noticed for a few months now, Google's been limiting searches to the blog content. Some searches just don't succeed, though they used to.

Edited by: Rigorous Intuition at: 6/5/06 12:47 pm

Jeff, if you're interested in reaching a larger audience/younger generation, have you considered a mirror on myspace? There's already a good handful of conspiracy-related accounts there and the presence of awareness there is impressive..

Just food for thought; by no means a solution, but I think it would be an excellent supplement.

Ah yes, MySpace, owned by Murdoch. That'll be an improvement.

You sound like cowards.

Owned by Murdoch or not, it's a huge community that has countless members, some of whom have loud aggressive voices against TPTB..

Fuck Murdoch, what could be better than using someone else's tool against them? Or is it better to stay confined in a relatively tiny community like this one with a perpetually limited amount of readers? If you're sick of what we talk about everyday, take the message to the sleepers themselves, don't count on them to stumble into places like this..

Or is it that you really enjoy just bitching about it all and don't really want to seee things ever change or any real action taken, cause seriously, you ain't gonna do it without the masses, and they converge heavily in places like myspace..

Re: About Google and DU

Postby DrDebugDU » Mon Jun 05, 2006 3:23 pm

Google has embraced DU again after the advertisement. One of their tricks is to expire old material if they think that the site is too big. The problem is that they have multiple main databases and the removal process does not seem to be syncronized unlike the spider additions which are immediately mirrored by all databases. (I guess it's a form of local censorship)

So google.com had about 1,000,000 pages and if you changed the .com in .de it suddenly increased to 2,000,000.

Guess what?

www.google.com/search?hl=...ground.com

2,140,000 results

www.google.de/search?hl=e...ground.com

2,300,000 results

Most results have been restored to the US database.

BTW:

www.google.com/search?hl=...ogspot.com

421 results (you don't get that much anyhow)

www.google.com/search?hl=...ogspot.com

423 results (two results have been removed)

www.google.com/search?hl=...tnG=Search

13,500 results (Sorry used to wrong query)

www.google.de/search?hl=e...sintuition

13,500 results (Still in sync)

Edited by: DrDebugDU at: 6/5/06 1:30 pm

Maybe it's an age thing, but I just don't get myspace. Regardless of Murdoch, it never fails to give me a creepy vibe. Haven't anything to back it up; only that, pages I've seen, strike me as examples of constricted and monitored communication.

The others shouting out against TPTB on myspace are standing loud and clear in that community, look at the number of friends and comments some of those links I gave you have..There's no lack of interest or desire to understand at all; they have the same ratios we have here, some wanna know, some don't. The numbers are just larger..

myspace is a multimedia community that fuses whole aspects of culture and knowledge. Not exploiting it is a failure to act. I'll consider it, and appreciate the suggestion.

It's a valid point, to use any effective medium. I'm just feeling particularly skeptical today because of Blogger's ineffectiveness.

There are a number of the blogs that I go to that don't seem to be updating for me. Digy and Firedoglake are only two that havn't updated for my browser since last friday. Even though I know they have posted articles since then and have gone to those posts through other links.

weird, I don't think it's just you. I don't know if it's just left leaning blogs or everyone. Still, these days, and given the nuts we have in gov, I wouldn't put it past them.

I've found the .tk domains easy to set up and reliable.

www.dot.tk/en/index.html

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.tk

Quote:
I'm just feeling particularly skeptical today because of Blogger's ineffectiveness.

Totally understandable; and I empathize completely.

If you decide you'd like to persue it, you have my email; just let me know, and I'll use my experience at myspace to take as much of the sting out for you as I can; but it's really not that bad once you get used to it. If you're pressed for time, I'd be glad to help you out. The two of us could set up the account, you go ahead and configure it how you'd want it, and all you'd need to do afterwards is email me your raw blog posts which I could drop right in at myspace. I'd love to do that right now with your existing archives, but I'd need all the raw code to preserve the links, etc, and doing it by hand would take me forever..

That said, regardless of whether or not you decide to persue it, I think it would be wise to have all the archives mirrored elsewhere. Not just in a safe-house, but in a place that can be accessed by John Q. You've done way too much work, and I'd like to see it distributed as far as we can throw it in all directions.

As far as the rest of the crowd here, I'd like to apologize if I came across as needlessly aggressive this morning. I was a moderator at chemtrailcentral.com until some very bad shit went down there and I've had my nose in quite a few things for the last couple of years. As an information distribution source on all manner of things relative to our interests here, it had few peers. It was a completely demoralizing experience seeing the place taken down from the inside out and the excellent moderators crew we had established busted up. Since then, I pretty much make RI's forum the only place I partake in any of the discussions we have, and value every voice, but again, I have to point out that as big and comfy as we feel here; this is a small place that has a small audience(when you omit the lurking alphabets)..

Chemtrailcentral was gutted overnight. I don't want to see anything like that happen here; I want the information we share and the dots we connect burdened with triple-redundancies so that no matter what happens here or on Jeff's blog, what work has been done will not go lost. This is the only reason I showed my ass earlier in the thread. Maybe one day we'll even be able to show these threads to our children if we can weather the perpetual crisis that hangs over us today.

Let the record show that I respect everyone here, even thoughtographer(where's that guy been lately, anyways?)..

cheers,
D
