Steganography you mean... hmmm, wayyyyy back in '98-'99 time frame I remember reading about a "technology" some corporate dip-shits developed to "watermark" text with just such little imperfections, so that if it's cut and pasted elsewhere they can tell that it's their source, because it has the exact same typos, the same extra spaces, etc. Also the same tech would let them take the same master copy, and watermark say, 20 versions of it, each differently. So if the text leaks, they know who had that particular watermark in their copy. To a casual obsever, two people following along or looking at each others copies of the memo, it would look the same.
