Quote:
I have not insulted anyone and the only disagreement is that I want the people listed on the title of this thread to stop disrupting and insulting and intimidating people who take the risk and post IDEAS instead of insults and use up bandwidth for the sole purpose of proving their supposed "intellectual superiority.

Can you point to any example of an instance when I've disrupted a thread, or intimidated another poster? I'll grant that I may ocassionally be insulting, although I do honestly make an effort to be polite, and not engage in tactics such as deriding the beliefs of others with epithets such as 'Bushies' or 'Repugs', which seems distressingly common on this board. I will grant that I'm not always as patient of foolish or impossible claims as perhaps I might be.

Do you take exception perhaps to my pointing out that a 40 frame per second movie camera simply isn't capable of recording a bullet fired from a gun travelling 'ever so slowly' across a five foot divide? Do you take exception to my pointing out that engineering the sinking of the Titanic isn't the most practical-minded way of murdering a single person? Would you rather this board host the sort of discussions where a claim is considered to be true by simple virtue of its having been made?

-Sepka the Space Weasel

In an interesting bit of "almost synchronicity...

Postby snowlion2 » Wed May 17, 2006 6:12 pm

seeing where some of this was going, I too nearly started my own thread this morning. Slight difference: it would have been a place where any old or new theory could be posted, with one proviso: it would have to be something so "out there" with almost no likelihood of being true or provable that it would make underground alien bases and QEII as a lizard look downright logical. There are just some things that, if I even suggest they might be true, the only logical response I should expect from anyone is, "You're kidding, right?" And I better not accuse said person of being a debunker or assuming intellectual authority, because I was the one who suggested the ridiculous. They likely are intellectually superior, and I should thank my lucky stars for someone at least trying to point me back in the direction of the real world.

This is not the solution.

Rigorists and Intuiters can co-exist here, as long as everyone (including myself) relaxes a little and doesn't try to stifle the other.

I was gonna say, Jeff's gone for what...a day and a half, and this stuff breaks out all over the board. He's gonna feel like a teacher that had to leave an unruly class for to long.
Let's get it together people!
I say, share your beer, or what have you!
We'll talk and argue about religion, politics, music, and even sports...after we talk, we should still be friends. Otherwise, it's not really talking, its more like a visit from the missionaries.

Well, I noticed it's been a bit flamy around here too, but I think generally most posters make an effort to respectfully disagree with one another.

I think that disagreement should be a catalyst for for re-examining our ideas, if any of us had it all figured out there wouldn't be much point in hanging around some internet forum.

Yes, I'm available for motivational speaking and organizing team building exercises, call (666)230-2012.

hey quit this bullshit bickering - we're here I guess to figure out the truth. I think haggeling about subjects falls under the requirements of that. Haggel away. Lets have some points of views, lets have some opinions, but forget this thread.

"I totally disagree with what yousay, but I will defend unto the death your right to say it" type of thing.
