Re: Who's spamming my blog?

you're getting all those hits because somebody who uses the service added your site to their list. they're remotely checking to see if you've updated. blo.gs is a Yahoo! service, so it's not like you're getting attacked, just payed attention to.

anybody besides me having trouble replying to PM's the last few days?

when i click the "do it" button, some weird stuff comes up at the very top left of the page. a column of plus signs in between quote marks, and boxes that say 'select' and 'check'

and then if i write a reply in the text box and click to send it, i get a new screen "unknown action"

this happens even if it's just a couple words, so it isn't that it's timing out. can't figure out why it won't work!

(so if i owe you a reply and haven't, that's why)

PM's

Postby proldic » Wed Oct 19, 2005 2:03 pm

I've never even been able to log on to ez-board, to edit, or even know if I have any PM's, not to mention respond to them.

AnnaLivia, here's ezboard's reply to your problem:

Hello.

Yes, I have seen that before, just a few days ago actually.

it is caused by a piece of adware that is normally listed under add/remove
programs as "Quicklinks Toolbar".

Uninstalling that should fix the problem. If it does not, please have the
member open an accounts ticket as we will need to ask them specific questions
about their setup.

Ticket Details
=========
Ticket ID: VGN-98941
Department: Accounts
Created On: 19 Oct 2005 08:58 AM
Last Update: 19 Oct 2005 08:58 AM
Status: Closed

<ticket no="VGN-98941"/>

Postby AnnaLivia » Fri Oct 21, 2005 11:10 am

hey, jeff, thanks. have not tried to reply to a PM yet because i gotta fly out of here and go pick up my daughter from college right now. (will be happy to see her for the weekend!) but i did find that quicklinks program, and removed it. will try a reply when i get back.

quickly: bad news: i also noticed a program on my machine called surfsidekick. since i've been getting pop-up ads lately "brought to me by them" ...and i never used to get them ever since we got ad-aware software...i tried to remove it, too. up popped a little window FROM THEM, asking me to enter a code THEY GAVE ME.

knowing as little as i do about fixing a computer problem, i never click a thing if i don't know exactly what to expect. so i wasn't about to follow their directions.

went and googled, instead. "what is surf sidekick"

AH GEEZ!!

did i say life was out to get me?

make that the universe, LOL

more later
thanks again, jeff and ezboard

and anti, at this point, pumpkin, it's a pretty good thing for you that that video computer guy looks like both my uncle and my old boss.
