Cowboy Bebop

For those who do not know, Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese animated tv show, the only anime worth watching in my opinion. But let's jump into the synchronicities.

I read about it a while ago but only saw the episode tonight. "Wild Horses", originally aired in the 2001 makes use of the space shuttle Columbia in the plot. Wikipedia briefly mentions the 'controversy' about airing the episode after Columbia disintegrated over Texas and some other states but doesn't mention the interesting aspects. Possible spoilers follow so watch out.

As the main character's ship is entering the atmosphere to be intercepted by the shuttle, we see it [the ship, not the shuttle] begin to disintegrate just like Columbia, with a streak of smoke in the sky and bits falling from it. When the ship finally is intercepted, some heat protection panels are damaged and the pilot is worried that the shuttle might not make it down safely. It does however, crash landing in the desert. Of course, you really need to see the episode to appreciate it fully.

Cross-reference with: rigorousintuition.blogspo...n-air.html

Edited by: jingofever at: 5/14/06 2:30 am
