recent turn of media's spin

Postby dugoboy » Wed May 24, 2006 3:17 pm

in recent month's the media have started to reveal more and more truth. its where america's at. the matrix of control seems to be getting more and more exposed. more and more people see the mainstream media for what it is, a tool to get the 'official' news to people unfettered of pesky details that get your brain working. so now the media has to bait us with a little more truth to string us along just a little bit more hoping we don't catch on. what do you guys think? they think we're stupid..
___________________________________________
"BUSHCO aren't incompetent...they are COMPLICIT."
Edited by: dugoboy at: 5/24/06 1:26 pm

More truth?

Postby nomo » Wed May 24, 2006 3:20 pm

Why do think that? Is it "true" because you agree with it this time?

I think the prestigious "liberal establishment" media like the Washington Post and the New York Times have gradually improved since the 2004 election. I guess they figured out Bush and Co are screwing things up a bit too much.

In a story following the Cheney shooting episode, Newsweek casually dropped the bombshell that no one in the 9/11 Commission had believed Cheney's account of his actions on 9/11... that one blew my mind a bit.

Ahh, but the NYT was back to it's old tricks again yesterday, obsessing over Clinton's genitalia.

it looked like something was happening for awhile I admit like the dam was going to burst, but I see nothing anymore. Bushgang operates with impunity. Democrats are a joke of a party incapable of doing anything. I've given up hope that this country is ever going to get its head out of it's ass. Eventually it may have it's head handed to it. That's the only hope left.

Polls are meaningless, elections are meaningless, the POWER in this country can and and does do any thing they want. It's disgusting but what else can be expected? We got a nation more interested in reality tv shows than reality. As far as I'm concerned these people are getting exactly the government they deserve. I'm so close to not even caring any more it's a little fightening. Of course there's no where to run either.

Vote Democrat...that'll fix things!

Or not.

Personally, I think that Bushco has just gone a bit out of bounds and the establishment is just getting ready to change clothes. Otherwise, the dems would have been opposing this stuff long ago. As would the media. I think it is naive to think that the media is just now "figuring out" that the Bush administration is terrible. You think they didn't really know that WMD was bullshit, for example? Just an oversight? I like to think I'm pretty smart, but I don't assume that I am somehow far superior in intelligence to the editors of the Washington Post or New York Times. And yet I knew WMD was bullshit all along. I also knew what the result of the invasion was going to be, and was only wrong about how many would die in the initial invasion (I guess I thought Saddam would actually resist.). Am I really that brilliant? Nah. Whether you want to argue overt censorship or more subtle pressures within establishment media, any fool knew Bushco was full of bull. All they had to do was listen to Helen Thomas...or even watch the Daily Show, for that matter.

Now, I go further than that, really. My feeling is that Bush and the neocons were put forward in order to do a very dirty job...completely destroy at least one country in the mideast. My thesis won't make sense if they don't actually bomb Iran, so I sure hope I'm wrong.

Iran without Iraq is too poweful, so both have to be profoundly weakened. The rhetoric about democracy, and thus the rhetoric about the neocons being ideologues who want to "force democracy" on the rest of the world is complete myth. The goal was to destroy Iraq and, probably, to divide it into three regions...which everyone who was paying attention felt pretty sure would be the end result.

I'll go along with much of the board to accept that the goal of the neocons was complete hegemony of Israel in the region. But I also happen to think there are others beyond the neocons...I'd say above...who also want this...and it has nothing to do with Zion and it has lots more to do with oil and also geopolitics (have a look at US bases in the region...can you say "Ring around the Russkies?". They use the neocons and they use the Christian right to drum up support for this insanity...
Also, many of the Patriot Act type stuff was actually proposed under Clinton. Again, it's a tad unsavory to be tearing the Constitution into little tiny bits, so here comes Bush to the rescue. Fascism, in many ways, is fairly efficient for the big corporations. But it breeds opposition...so why not channel that opposition against the visible bad guys and stay behind the scenes?

How grateful we'll be when some Kerry or Clinton comes along and rescues us from these evil neocons. Then there will be no more wars. No more Vietnam...er....Kosovo...er..Iraqs. Then corporations will no longer own the political process.

This sudden downturn of media spin on Bush COULD just be explained by cowardice as Bush drops in the polls...maybe. But no way are they just now waking up to the truth. They aren't stupid, whatever other shortcomings they may have.

Nope. They're still lying bastards. Don't let up on them for a minute. In fact, I say we INCREASE the heat.

"Don't let them poison you with their lies."
-- Chavez

(Sorry, I'm still fired-up by the documentary on the coup).

Nicely put Dreams End. I think I'm with you pretty much all the way there. The stupidity explanation rings so hollow it'll be reverberating for centuries, it just has to be collusion.

I don't buy the stupidity explaination for either the media or Bush. You'll note that Bush is capable of coherent speech and actual sentences now that he is a lame duck. He mangled english was just a pose meant to flatter his base. That is, he pretended to be a dumb as they are.

Collusion make much more sense.
