WTF, CNN?

Postby Et in Arcadia ego » Sat Jul 15, 2006 4:24 am

Not that I'm very surprised, but I just found this to be totally surreal..

I'm looking on CNN every once in a while now keeping track on how long we have till Armageddon starts, and I notice an advertisement for CNN's online videos. In the pic I see a burning *something* and the text says 'Explosives found' with something that looks like LA as the location. I have no recolection of this, of course, so I decide to use the macromedia function of zooming in on the pic.

I was very surprised at what I found.

When you zoom into pics that are screen resolution(72 dpi), you come closer to the bare pixels with each zoom, and eventually find yourself confronted with individual pixels.

This was not the case in this image; instead, I found myself looking at a clever vector illustration that very effectively passed for flames when zoomed out to the original size.

This is FAKE FUCKING MEDIA..

Look for yourself:

Not that I'm very surprised, but I just found this to be totally surreal..

I'm looking on CNN every once in a while now keeping track on how long we have till Armageddon starts, and I notice an advertisement for CNN's online videos. haha that's amazing...

to be fair though, it's not really fake news... it's an advert for fake news...!!! :-O

It's a Macromedia Flash banner ad for whatever subscription nonsense they're peddling... I guess the idea is to make a generic image that implies 'news' ie something exploding avoiding using anything too specific so they don't have to change the ad too often.... after all, stuff's not gonna stop exploding any time soon, right!?!

+ flash rather than a real bit of video to make download time faster...

but yeah its pretty ludicrous.

The vocabulary word you need is NESTING.
As in, a psy-op theme nested in a shell to stroke your sub-conscious.

The ads on Air America Radio are bizarre and full of mind viruses, probably Clear Channel's doing.

One is for the Search Dogs of America foundation which is a real entity. But the ad starts out with a dog barking 'in the first person' to tell his story while the narrator translates for the dog giving a description of a mock disaster.

And the narrative starts out "Three buildings collapsed. Two little girls were missing."

Well, where do we know that three buildings colllapsed? Ground Zero.

The media is chock full of nested concepts. More like a nest of vipers.
