has "escaped" from the prison at Bagram air base. He evidently escaped on July 10. Video of him boasting about his escape appeared on Al-Arabiyah on October 18, but the story just broke in the US press in the last day or two, when it came out that he couldn't testify in the trial of the reservist accused of abusing him in captivity because he was, er, gone.

seattlepi.nwsource.com/na...scape.html
www.aljazeera.com/cgi-bin...ce_id=9999

I recall coming across suggestions that al-Farouq was a US double agent while reading about Jemaah Islamiyah a while back. I couldn't find any references to this today, though.

Does anyone have links to such information? Has this been discussed around here?

Thanks.
