Best way to beat them is to think long term: OUT-POPULATE THEM. Come on you younger members here, do your part, make babies, bring them up right. NO, I mean LEFT!

I hate to say it, but I think the only hope left for you Americans (and even more for the rest of us here in the Middle East), is for an international movement of states like Iran, Venezuela and others in Latin America and elsewhere, and resistance movements, including everything from the anti-globalization groups to Hizbullah, to freedom-loving Americans at home and abroad, to make the US a pariah, rogue terrorist state, until it agrees to abide by international law and the Geneva Conventions.

Fat chance, but what else is there?

Thats the most logical solution. SHrubbageddon posted before that all it will take is to make the machine stop. Soldiers put down your guns if you dont believe what in what ur doing. Corporate workers stop coming to work. Tell the bosses to go screw themselves...etc Sounds easier than it is, but it has got to be at least a national thing if not a world solution. But I saw another post here one time that was a study on peoples' complicity in torture if instructed by "Authority". Chilling to say the least. The best thing that could happen is for all media sattelites to spontaneously combust.....This is the Trojan Horse that lets them into your home and psyche.

I would definately hesitate on "aligning" with administration defined "terrorist groups" such as Hzblla or any group that promotes preemptive violence, but have more than once wondered how hard a Venezuelan citizenship is to come by. Its some scary shit, but I have resolved myself to stay here, because this is now the frontline in the war against Liberty. America. I feel like the enemy snuck in while we were watching Saturday morning cartoons, and hid in the closet until Sunday Night and ruined dinner! Shitting in my mouth and calling it a sundae! We have got to organize..its almost too late I fear.

Quote:
The Pentagon’s hunger for money seems to be insatiable. The Bush Administration has requested a whopping $439.3 billion to feed its appetite the next fiscal year, an increase of seven percent.

This is just the regular military budget. There will be an estimated $50 billion in supplemental spending for Iraq and Afghanistan. And then there’s the money proposed to be spent on nuclear weapons, $16 billion, which is separately tallied in the Department of Energy budget.

This brings the total to at least $506 billion or so, provided the “supplemental” demand does not reach higher.

What is the reason for this unrestrained expenditure? To maintain U.S. global supremacy in the years to come. Don’t take my word for it. Read the primary military strategy document of the Bush Administration, made public in September 2002.

“Our forces will be strong enough to dissuade potential adversaries for pursuing a military buildup in hopes of surpassing, or equaling the power of the United States,” states the National Security Strategy. No wonder The Washington Post said that the doctrine “gives the United States a nearly messianic role.”

It is determined to play this role, which provides an easy cover for advancing U.S. corporate interests.

Amazingly, U.S. military spending is now almost equal to that of the rest of the world combined!

“The major determinant of the world trend in military expenditure is the change in the USA, which makes up 47 per cent of the world total,” states the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, a group that does invaluable work in tracking global military expenditures.

“US military expenditure has increased rapidly during the period 2002–2004 as a result of massive budgetary allocations for the ‘global war on terrorism’, primarily for military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.”

As the group points out, much of U.S. spending has been not as part of the regular military budget, but as supplemental spending requests.

“The supplementary appropriations for this purpose allocated to the Department of Defense for financial years 2003–2005 amounted to approximately $238 billion and exceeded the combined military spending of Africa, Latin America, Asia (except Japan but including China) and the Middle East in 2004 ($193 billion in current dollars), that is, of the entire developing world,” states SIPRI. “Thus, while regular military spending has also increased in the USA as well as in several other countries and regions, the main explanation for the current level of and trend in world military spending is the spending on military operations abroad by the USA, and to a lesser extent by its coalition partners.”

progressive.org/mag_apb020806

Question: Where is all that money coming from?

Answer: From the pockets of ordinary taxpayers.

Question: Where will this money go?

Answer: Into the coffers of huge corporations of the military- industrial complex.

Question: You mean, the same corporations that have received generous tax breaks during the past five years, while social spending that actually benefits people has been cut?

Answer: Yes. And they're also the same corporations that use those profits to "lobby" and corrupt your government, by providing them with perks and lucrative jobs through the revolving door between the military-industrial complex and government.

Question: Will this money make Americans safer?

Answer: Look at Afghanistan. Look at Iraq. Look at how Americans are seen all over the world, because of crimes committed by their military and their "US-based" multinational corporations.

Americans will NOT be safer, Americans will become more isolated and afraid, less healthy, less educated, more malnourished and subject to illness from a deteriorating environment.

Americans will be at the mercy of an increasingly tyrannical, secretive government that commands hundreds of billions of dollars annually, spent in developing more devastating ways to kill people, in mind-control psychological and drug experiments, in building concentration camps, and gradually closing down or infiltrating or buying out any alternative sources of information to its own propaganda.

What do you think?

Et in arcadia, you are so right. It was so easy to heap blame, hatred and contempt on the German people for allowing the Nazis to take over.

We forget that the Nazis were thugs whom everyone underestimated, including those who appointed Hitler as Chancellor in 1933, mostly because the elite considered him to be a useful ally against the "communist threat".

Once he revealed that he was not a ignorant buffoon, but a deadly serious military dictator, it was far too late.

Are you there yet?

Re: what will matter

Postby stickdog99 » Thu Sep 28, 2006 5:18 pm

This bill will sail right through Congress in the next two days because almost nobody in our entire nation has the courage to stand up for our Bill of Rights. The cynical, desperate Republicans are trying to use the "soft on terror" label as a bludgeon to beat the cowering, spineless Democrats while our 220-year-old Bill of Rights is raped and pillaged in the process!

Yes, the Supreme Court might "save the day" by striking down some of the most perversely unconstitutional excesses of this law, but what does it say about the political landscape of our country that both the legislative and executive branches are conspiring to undo the 6th and 7th amendments as their election strategy?

Every single individual defending this disgusting assault on the nearly 800-year-old principles of common law makes me physically ill. Even assuming every official story of the looming terrorist threat were 100% true, are we really that afraid of a few crazies with box cutters that we can't just man up for ourselves against them like the passengers of Flight 93 supposedly did when and if the time comes? Are we really that gutless that we have to cede infinite power to our monarch in our mewling belief that only thus can we be delivered from the scary Muslim bogeyman? What can the "scary terrorists" possibly do to us that's worse than what we are about to do to ourselves?

Edited by: stickdog99 at: 9/28/06 3:23 pm

It's as if our elected representatives know they won't ever have to face another election. They have been shameless and appear to despise the people and spit upon them (um...us) with nearly every bill they pass through that den of vipers.

I suppose this can be seen as a possible strategy in the war on terror, seeing how the terrorists hate us for our freedom and liberties. Good idea guys.

I have a theory about what has happened to our legistative body. A theory perhaps of a conspiratorical nature. (hehe, I made that word up.) and I will resurrect "Olbermann the shill" and put it there.
