...And I thought, from the title, that this story would be about the military draft.

No, it's about filling the new privatized prisons and keeping them full. What a growth industry! Our county seat has 2 private prisons, the county jail, a state prison (a very old facility), and about 7 different satellites of that... and that's just in Florence!

A decade ago, Arizona was building a new facility with at least 1000 beds every year. This has accellerated since then, and everyplace is overcrowded still. Offenders from other states, even as far away as Alaska and American Samoa, are housed here, under private contracts. Imagine how few visits they get!

So now this new law will make everybody who doesn't snitch immediately, an offender themselves. Gee, let's all buy stock in Correction Corporation of America! --MaryK

Drug snitches -- Bust the Banks and Bosses

Postby Starman » Fri May 20, 2005 10:41 pm

If this legislation passes,
I can imagine thousands, hell, HUNDREDS of Thousands of people going to their local law-enforcement officials, and disclosing highly-incriminating information on evidence of massive drug-smuggling networks by enormously powerful, well-connected gangster-thugs who have infiltrated the White House, Drug Enforcement Agency, CIA, NSA, DIA, and also involving US-based Private Security Firms and major banks engaged in laundering drug-profits -- all this information made available on hundreds of websites and newsgroups, patiently assembled from information in the public domain, government documents, anonymous whistleblowers and leaked reports. After all, it will become our 'citizen's duty' to pass-on information we have that we consider accurate.

Since Drug Officials seem unable to crack the organized-crime syndicates under official protection and sanction, perhaps with massive public cooperation and attention we'll finally manage to get top officials busted for using the War on Terror and War on Drugs to keep their protected networks operating without competition and beyond reach of local police depts. The first and biggest racketeering thugs to be brought-down would probably be the Jeb, George jr. and Geo Sr. Bush clan, then (in no particular order), Goss, Mueller, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Clinton -- John Bolton should be high on the suspect list for his stonewalling Senator Kerry's investigations in the 1980s on CIA ties to drug-runners in Central America, as indeed most of the Reagan-era crew of Latin America warhawk operatives who were intimately involved in the Iran-Contra debacle, with Air America flights ferrying arms and cash south and drugs north.

And of course, Pentagon officials and top Defense Industry execs and oilfield service personnel and Embassy-cover spooks should come under heavy investigation, whose position in the world's most lucrative drug-growing regions makes for a convenient fit between 'duty' and 'profit', as hundreds of billions of illicit drug-profits are channeled to the CIA's lucrative Black Ops budget (estimated to be almost three times larger than the Pentagon's 'official' Defense Budget of 450 billion dollars, ie., some 1.1 Trillion dollars per year.)

It's about time the deep corruption and hypocrisy of those officials who hold the keys to massive smuggling were exposed. Recall when VP George Sr. was the Drug Czar in charge of Florida's Task Force on Drug intervention -- the US drug-supply tripled. That was NOT an accident, or just coincidence.
Starman
