0%

I don't think a war will kill ALL humans. I think that there is a significant chance of worldwide catastrophe, however, whether from war or economic or environmental collapse, but I don't think there's much chance at all that the entire human race will be gone. For one thing, the rich elites are already prepared with their underground bunkers and "shadow governments" (look that up on google if you aren't aware of it.)

I think we have to be careful, despite the rather dire straits we are in, not to assume that extinction is inevitable. This leads to hopelessness and lack of action. Maybe there's not time for action to thwart our fate. But maybe there is.....and so that's the assumption we have to make.

Good luck on your project.

I favor the extinction of the human race provided it can be done so as not to extinct animals and plants as well. Imagine a good green earth without our pollution and our neverending wars. We were a bad experiment, whether we were the science project of some junior high Jehovah who got tired of us like kids do with their ant farm, or an experiment by aliens (Note: bonobos bad choice for master race. Next time try dolphins or house cats.)

"What a wonderful world this would be", as Satchmo sang.
=======
Oh, I enjoy an egg myself, yes. also 0%, with DE on this. though sometimes think Hurrah when global warming puts me in mind of Noah, because the awfulness of man's cruelty to small children (ra) makes me think I don't care, actually this is just another form of megalomania. let those who come after us make of this mess what they will, and let's hope 'we' won't have completely failed them.

....wow, am I ever happy to discover that someone can spend one hour in a library reading human history and actually think we deserve to survive.

If believing that slow lorises, egrets and the 6 foot schefflera in my side yard have more to commend them to inherit the planet than the inventors of television, Cheez Wiz and Zyklon-B means I'm brain dead, I'll happily cop to it.

Thanks for mentioning Noah. I guess Anna thinks God was brain dead to kill everything but one family and two of each animal because he was already disgusted with our species' antics several thousand years ago.

=======
Oh, I enjoy an egg myself, yes. even in underground cities - they could get plenty of energy from the earth core temperature - they could maybe get suitable light for growing things from the energy - but what about water? - all the water they can get will be from the radiation-polluted surface - maybe they can get the radiation out of the water - the surface will be radiation-polluted for millions of years - how long can people live underground? - and if it is the 'elite', they will all be so aggressive, they will kill each other to get king of the underground castle

and anyway, if only the elite survive, itll still be death to us, wont it

i am not trying to get people to feel hopeless, but to get people to face the gravity of the situation so that that sense of the gravity will motivate them to investigate sincerely, seriously and stonecold soberly, the workable plan that is available, and not rely on lazy-thought plans, like hoping and praying and doing nothing and waiting and seeing

for some reason, people have a giant unthinking prejudice against equity - they think of equity as an absolute last resort - theyll try anything before that - but if they get real with how bad reality is for us, maybe theyll give equity a look - and think hard enough to see it is not a bad option, it is a brilliant option - it has no downside at all - 99% get more money, 90% get 10 to 1000 times as much money, everyone gets survival and peace instead of war and extinction, the 1% who get less money, get survival and happiness - total win-win -

how was we propagandaed into thinking equity was a bum deal?

If humans are not worth saving...then no reason to post on this board. You could invest in some Raytheon stock, I suppose.

the really evil are in a big minority

it makes me think of eugenics - id like a eugenics that got rid of the bushes and neros and caligulas and ceausescus and stalins and pol pots and idi amins and hitlers and himmlers and goerings and genghis khans

which reminds me, the matriarchal cretan empire had 3000 years of peace - because they practised eugenics - the queen offered the position of king to anyone who wanted it, but it lasted only one year - anyone who was macho, total-ego stupid enough to want 'a glorious life but a short one' got weeded out nicely, leaving all us decent, sane, less-than-total-ego people to have a nice life - bring on the cretan matriarchy - also, in matriarchies, teenagers get to have unproscribed sex - healthy, natural - in patriarchies, the men like to boss sex - in matriarchies, pregnancy is not a disease - the women stand together, sharing the mothership of the babies - so love is free - maybe a lot of wars are fueled by sexual frustration

the really evil do the evils and us ordinary decent folk feel shame for it

Interesting to read the reactions to this idea. I've also felt that we don't deserve to continue. I don't believe the collection of flaws within humans that produces such extreme evil can be overcome except in very special, and limited situations. There is no garuntee that those situations would last either.

Having said that, it doesn't mean I *wish* any of us or anyone's children, or children's children to die in great masses. It is just a way to express how devestatingly destructive, pathetic, and hopeless we are as a species at this time.

Is it possible to see a distinction there?
