The annoying thing about this is that it now probably means NO IPODS ON AIR PLANES.

That really sucks.

O M G--! If I can't take my iPod on airplanes, I'm not sure I can tolerate flying. Seriously. It's all that's gotten me through the last couple of flights and I can't imagine how I'll cope without it Drugs, maybe. I've got a "fear of flying" that's fierce And we have to fly in September and in December.....

LilyPat

Any electronic device can be used as a detonator

Postby DireStrike » Thu Aug 10, 2006 8:08 pm

I dunno what the sports drink has to do with anything. Probably just the container used as a disguise.

Maybe Gatorade has some sort of product placement deal with the Pentagon.

Message to the Terrorism/Counter-Terrorism Industry

Postby JD » Fri Aug 11, 2006 3:22 am

Sports drinks as an explosive component?

PLEASE come up more believable terror threats people!

You are paid good money to do your jobs, and this is the best you can come up with?

I can't think of the last thing I've read that was so ridiculous. The closest analogy I can come up with here is Monty Python or Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Oh and BTW I thought it was a rather big thing to NOT reveal terrorist/counter-terrorist techniques or methods. Couldn't the details have just been claimed secret due to national security reasons, thereby avoiding the ridiculous assertion of sports drink being a key component of an improvised explosive?

Tut tut. If I was your boss behind whomever came up with this one I'd fire their asses.

P.S. I take it all back. Keep up the good work of ridiculous terror scares that don't kill anyone. 9/11 scared the shit out of me and worked actually TOO well, I don't want to see anymore of those.

Don't you think that somewhere, behind a curtain, somebody is absolutely laughing their asses off at the whole world right now?

If they are trying to tell the world that a sports drink is an explosive component, they must be busting a gut right about now and probably will for months to come.

This is really sick when you think about it.

Sure makes you wonder. Someone is having a chuckle no doubt.

I wonder if they are pushing the envelope to see if they can say ANYTHING and people will believe it? And maybe taunting each other along to see just how outrageous of story can be pushed out there for acceptance by the great unwashed?

After all the BS to come out over the years there must be a rather massive case of hubris amoungst the folks in the terrorism industry.

This is more absurd than the box cutter scenario.

I'm just sitting over here shaking my head. What's really strange is most people believe any damn thing they say, even though they readily admit we were lied into Iraq, etc. When it comes to the "terrorist" threat, they lose their freaking minds and start talking about the government as if they are normal people. hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

sigh, yep, it's past my bedtime as you can tell by the shrill mad laughter

I mean. Really.

"Okay, listen up people. We have reason to believe that some of you in this terminal may have highly explosive substances disguised as sports drinks or hair gels about your persons. In order that we may check this, please form orderly snaking lines of 5-600 people each, remove all possible explosive devices and toss them in to the large bins before you. Thank you. Please don't panic or think too much."
