Hi, this is my first post to this board. I used to post on the Democratic Underground but for some unknown reason my posting privileges have been revoked. I have tried to get an answer from the mods as to why I was tombstoned but they will not reply.
Has anyone here been dumped by DU for no reason?
My posts were always respectful and I even donated money to them in solidarity with the cause.

Edited by: Al Gomas at: 8/16/05 3:36 pm

I've only heard tales about it, but you're definitely not the only one to get dumped inexplicably.
Welcome aboard!

Hi Al.

It strikes me as if its a choice between posting on a board that simply wont entertain even the remotest notion of US govnt complicity in the mass murder that was 9/11, then youre far better off here.

Talk about the gatekeeping left !

If thats their idea of a free and open discussion forum, then they might as well stick it where the sun dont shine, as far as an increasingly large number of the American public are concerned, as they slowly come to realise and accept the extremely strong likelihood of major Govnt complicity in the 9/11 atrocity.

Democratic Underhand might be a better name for the people running that show, from what Ive heard.

Hi, Al! Welcome aboard. From what I know from all my banned DU friends, the Truth doesn't wear well at DU.

Speculation, imagination, thinking outside the cage are passionate abilities they can't deal with. They're afraid of how they'll "look" to others if they convey these talents.

The only post I made that could have annoyed anyone was in reply to a thread about anti-Semitism. As I recall, I said:

"Is it wrong to be angry at Jews who have infiltrated the highest levels of our government and twisted our foreign policy to advance their regional agenda? Is it wrong to be angry at Jews who are ethnically cleansing Palestinians from their own land?"

Honestly, this is the most inflamatory post I ever made on DU. Should I have said Israeli's instead of Jews? Do you think I could have been expelled for it? If so, then I will not be in a hurry to go back. I believe the co-dependant relationship between Israel and the US is one of the main reasons we are hated by the rest of the world. It is a relationship based on lies and injustice. To think that discussing it in public is offensive and punishable is unacceptable.

I was kicked off DU as well. Twice.

Yes, isn't it nice that even after you contribute money they can arbitrarily just ban you forever because somebody thinks you're "disruptive" or they don't like something you posted.

Yet other 'big fish' over there are free to abuse and taunt and cyberstalk pretty much whoever they want.

What's funny about DU is they have this paranoid attitude about policing the place and they get MORE trolls than anyone. It's almost like the trolls go in there knowing they're gonna get banned -- it's part of the fun for them.

Go to DailyKos. It's a much less-censored place, although lately they've tried to stifle discussions about MIHOP and the like.

They forget that fearing something will create exactly that which you fear.

That could have been it.

Hell, don't worry about it, or give it a few days and try to sign back on. I got banned once before and after a few days was allowed to get back on.

The trouble with DU is it's like walking on eggshells over there. You never know when some innocuous comment or word that you use sets somebody off and you suddenly have your thread hijacked by some asshole attacking you for being politically incorrect somehow.

It's a real pain in the ass. I still read them to see what's going on, but sure don't miss posting there.

Heyia Al;

While the comment you reposted is generally true and accurate and readily substantiated, it might have been more specificly 'correct' to reference dual-nation loyalties and/or interests -- Perhaps the Admin. felt you weren't being appropriately PC -- it IS a touchy issue for some, conflating Nation with Religious beleief. But then, it WAS expressed as opinion. If you were tombstoned for merely pointing out the evident fact that, in essence, under past administrations but especially under the present GOP 'leadership', that US policies have been exquisitely shaped and coordinated thru numerous Bush officials with close Israeli ties and many with dual-citizenship to advance very specific Israeli security and political issues, then that shows a very deliberate agenda at DU to discourage and be intolerant of Israeli/Zionist criticism. The topic is probably confounded to an extraordinary extent by the many inherant contradictions and inconsistencies of regarding Israel as an authentic 'democracy', since the whole premise of Israel as a nation is, after all, essentially based on the cultural and religous heritage of Judaism. It's not exactly a secret that in Israel, Christians and Muslim citizens have significantly reduced rights, and are treated as 2nd and 3rd class semi-citizens.

This is the 2-ton elephant in the Living Room that dedicated Zionists and Israel-Firsters attempt to keep away from American public attention or notice, as severely contradicting the popular myth of Israel as America's partner in promoting greater freedom, social justice, human and civil rights, and self-rule Government. Especially too, because Israel is the top recipient of US financial and military aid, and Israeli officials were inticately involved in helping to fabricate the case for war on Iraq -- for which Israel stood to benefit with major gains to its security, energy needs, economy and business interests, and greater political and military influence in the region.

This attitude of treating with kid-gloves and extra-sensitive deference the whole issue of Israeli and Zionist influence subverting American interests, is too typical thruout the blogsphere -- I've read where board and website managers have been lobbied and promised vague 'financial benefits' if they eliminated certain articles or comments or discussion topics that implicated Israeli/Zionist influence or that criticized Israeli policies -- ie., suggesting a very organized gate-keeping strategy with carrot-and-stick incentives. That should be VERY troubling.

While I don't post at DU, which is my personal boycott of the DU management's policies discouraging certain topics and out-of-the-box speculative thinking, I do occasionally read comments, esp. when someone here specifically recommends a given vibrant topic -- and there ARE many sharp people posting there.

Anyway -- Welcome to RI, where informed self-expression and information-sharing is encouraged (according to very basic, practical guidelines mostly re: hate-speech, violence, or hostile discrimination).

Starman
