"Queen looks like she's eaten one of her children & been sent to Broadmoor"

- David Lee, former editor of Art Review in the London Evening Standard last night, commenting on:

news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/s...html/1.stm
which he said was 'a joke commission': "The Queen's face looked pretty gruesome. She looks like she's eaten one of her children and been sent to Broadmoor......Not a particularly good painting by a not particularly good artist".

Broadmoor is the UK maximum security mental hospital/prison, currently home to the Yorkshire Ripper and assorted pals.

Edited by: emad at: 12/21/05 9:48 am

the Broadmore

Postby mother » Tue Dec 20, 2005 4:24 pm

does anyone remember the Welsh(?) twins, the Evil Twins of Broadmore fame? I take it that place is sort of the St. Elizabeth's of UK. We need Hanshan to pull up some images of QEII and Barbara Bush to see who is scarier.

Wherever he went, his forces always confiscated the most luxurious homes of the wealthy for Mao’s personal use, and immediately, new quarters that were bombproof and completely isolated were built in grandiose fashion, should Mao need to retreat to them. At Yenan, where useful idiots like Snow and Agnes Smedley saw Mao in what was purportedly his cave, they did not know that Mao actually lived in a mansion in Phoneix Village, with a giant courtyard, decorated walls and central wall heating. He also moved soon to Yang Hill, in a mansion of the KGB compound called the Date Garden. Behind both of these residences Mao had built secret secure compounds for himself and his immediate staff. There, in addition, he had at his disposal glamorous educated young women, procured to service his sexual needs." I also read somewhere that he had very bad teeth that smelled terrible, which must have been a real turn-off for all these women! (Of course, I doubt that they were foolish enough to interrupt his wooing with a chat about proper dental hygiene.)

Compare to Lucien Freud's portrait:

& emad - would you bring back the David Lee comment in context? Seriously, my neice almost had me able to post photos, but I am still a -------retard. What is missing from this gallery is the recent photo of BenedictXVI wearing a Santa hat. The photo is self-explanatory, I saw it on Our Lady of the Roses End Times Prophecies (and no I don't believe in their theories, I do not even think he's a valid Pope) But he looks just like Freud's portrait, only much, much worse.
