How One Man Influenced The Republican Party’s Transformation Into The Grand Old Putin Party

The Republican Party’s dramatic shift into America’s pro-Russian party and subsequent election of Donald Trump as President shocked the world.
An even more surprising development has been watching the Republican Party circle the wagons around a Donald Trump whose entire campaign has high level Russian contacts, and their slavish devotion to the President — a womanizing pathological liar — as he attacks everyone in the world with shameless lies, except Vladimir Putin
Trump has nothing but gushing bromance and tweets of praise for Putin.
One man isn’t surprised.
Dr. Edward Dmitrievich Lozansky.
The true story of a Soviet emigrant and his journey from anti-communist dissident to establishment to Putinist reveals a deeper truth about the Republican Party.
Edward Lozansky was most likely another one of “The Americans,” but plainly he was the big one who got away.
He literally wrote the book in Russian on how to lobby The Hill.
The Russian Foreign Ministry’s company “International Relations” was Lozansky’s publisher.
His story tells how GOP has been ideologically captured by Russian oil money and a Trump campaign built upon Putinism — the politics of hate, oligarchy and lies, especially lies — all of which Dr. Lozansky fed the highest ranks of the Republican Party apparatus with the opportunity to do business in oil-rich Russia.
These are the Chapters of the Grand Old Putin Party:

1. Prologue — Continues Below
2. Putin’s Propagandist Eerily Predicted Trump’s Relationship With General Flynn and Dana Rohrabacher Last Year
3. Putin’s Favorite Congressman Secretly Met With Paul Manafort After The FBI Warned Russian Agents Were Recruiting Him

8. From Orange Revolution To “Stars And Stripes Revolution”
9. Opinion: Edward Lozansky’s Russia Lobby Compromised The Republican Party
10. Opinion: Without Ed Lozansky, Trump-Russia Could Not Have Happened

Prologue
Republican ideology and the party’s gradual Russification culminated in their turn towards Putin this year.
The roots of the GOP sea change didn’t happen overnight, and weren’t solely a product of Trump’s political machinations.

It was the product of GOP leadership changing direction after decades of radical ideology, and fueled by Russian state-connected oil money ever since super lobbyist Jack Abramoff began doing business with NaftaSib in the 1990s until his prosecution in the mid-2000s whereupon ex-Trump Campaign manager Paul Manafort clearly took over the reigns of his Russian oil driven, dark money empire.
Even the NRA suddenly changed into a pro-Putin group after some targeted courting with love from Russia’s fake NRA.
Gallup reported a seismic shift in Republican opinion towards Vladimir Putin in February 2017. They wrote:
A major reason for the overall rise in Putin’s favorable rating this year is Republicans’ more positive views of the Russian leader, from 12% in 2015 to 32% today. This comes at a time when President Donald Trump wants to improve relations with Russia, after somewhat frosty relations between the two countries during Barack Obama’s presidency. Independents’ opinions of Putin also have grown more positive in the last two years, but to a lesser extent than Republicans’. Democrats’ views have become slightly less positive, with just 10% viewing Putin favorably today.
He Formed The First Young Republicans Club In The Soviet Union, But Soured On America After Ukraine’s Orange Revolution
Russian emigrant Edward Lozansky became a Republican shortly after arriving in America with an improbable story that led to Capital Hill and a 40-year career which has evolved into him becoming the dean of the Putin apologist propagandists in Washington, D.C.
Image
Left: Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak at a World Russia Forum, with Dr. Edward Lozansky speaking in Washington, D.C.
The anti-communist crusader emigrated from Moscow to the United States via Rome in 1977 and since then quickly managed to ingratiate himself into the highest level of American politics and stay there for four decades.
Today, he’s sharing space in Moscow with Vladimir Putin’s top propagandist in Eastern Ukraine with his fake university.
Within months of arrival, his Soviet-themed Romeo and Juliet story of family separation became the lever through which he made friends in western New York’s Jewish community and how his story was quickly carried to the floor of the United States Congress by his Republican representative in the House.
Just weeks later, even President Jimmy Carter was lobbying for the cause of reuniting Lozansky and his family on the world stage.
Two years later, he joined the Young Republicans, and his wife Tatiana formed the first Young Republicans Chapter behind the Iron Curtain — just after Senators Jack Kemp and Bob Dole enacted a marriage in absentia ceremony for the Lozanskys inside the Capitol.
After Republicans rejected Putin’s invasion of Crimea in 2014, Lozansky’s love story with the GOP took an especially bitter, tragic twist.
Russian propaganda — and very specifically Dr. Lozansky’s opinion — holds the United States responsible for Eastern European “color” revolutions which have overthrown oppressive regimes, oligarchies and kleptocracies like exiled Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych.
It’s a viewpoint which for good reason, has drawn quite vociferous American dissent.
The Republican Party’s thorough indoctrination into the right-wing of Russian politics didn’t happen overnight.
Lozansky’s World Russia Forum invited people to Washington, D.C. for decades, often into the Senate’s inner sanctum.
His issues were on the floor of Congress since the late 1970s.
Through his friendship Paul Weyrich, Lozansky was involved in the conservative movement nearby the one man who created of nearly every significant conservative group — from A.L.E.C. to the Council for National Policy to the Free Congress Foundation, Heritage Foundation and the Krieble Foundation — which started in the 1980s and consumed Republican political thought in the 2000s and to this day.
He was also close with the Cato Institute.
Through the years, his associates from Russia and his associates in the United States government came to a singular conclusion about first Lozansky’s activities, and later with the entire Russia lobby’s attributes.
They both leaned heavily towards right-wing or Republican politics, and rarely if ever towards Democrats.
Disingenuously, Lozansky had blamed that bias on lacking access to the elite Clinton administration in 2000 when the Navy’s CNA Corp. sponsored the World Russia forum. His friend Paul Weyrich told C-SPAN during the coup which ended Soviet rule, that he had personally “trained” the Russian official in charge of privatizing — read: making his friends wealthy on sweetheart deals — state-run companies and assets for President Boris Yeltsin all the way through 1996.
In retrospect, it seems plain that Dr. Lozansky targeted the conservative movement and Republican party with his Russian propaganda efforts.
And the professor’s efforts to Russianize the Republican Party succeeded to a terrifying degree.

Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

Putin’s Propagandist Eerily Predicted Trump’s Relationship With General Flynn and Dana Rohrabacher Last Year

Part 2 of a 10 part series: the Grand Old Putin Party

Image
Professor Ed Lozansky tells Russian TV that Donald Trump’s most important foreign advisor is Gen. Michael Flynn weeks before the Republican announced his foreign policy team.
A former Soviet physicist announced on Russian television that Donald Trump’s campaign hired its most important members — General Michael Flynn and Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) — over two weeks before the Republican candidate spoke publicly about his foreign policy advisors last year for the first time.
And he predicted a “color revolution” in the United States.
This report also reveals the former professor who made those predictions, Dr. Edward Lozansky is the common denominator in Russia’s cyber war department, which interfered in the United States 2016 elections and is also doing Putin’s daily PR dirty work in Eastern Ukraine.
Research indicates that Lozansky’s American University in Moscow shares an office with Donetsk Republic Spokesman Alexander Kazakov aka “The Cossack” and both men report to Putin’s high ranking deputy in charge of Eastern Ukrainian affairs, Vladislav Surkov, inside the Kremlin.
Lozansky Knew That General Flynn Was Trump’s Key Foreign Advisor Before The Team Was Announced
Dr. Lozansky delivered remarkably insightful news to Vestnik Kavkaza — a Russian news outlet for the Caucasus — about Donald Trump’s foreign policy advisors. It was a worldwide scoop:
Among the foreign policy advisers of Trump are Michael Flynn, the former head of the US foreign intelligence, that is called the GRU in Russia.
Another adviser is Dana Rohrabacher, a Congressman, the chairman of the subcommittee on international affairs, he was Reagan’s speechwriter, and behind him there are also former pillars of the Republican Party of the Reagan era.
Lozansky also said, “I think Clinton will win, unless the FBI stops her.”
The Washington Post revealed a key piece of Russian disinformation, which targeted the FBI and Director James Comey, and was a key factor in his unusual decision to go public in the Clinton email case.
Dr. Lozansky’s eerily prescient Russian television interview took place on or before March 4th, 2016.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K6d6bgItx4
Dr. Edward Lozansky speaks on Russian television on March 5th, 2016 and talks about the importance of General Michael Flynn and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) to the Trump campaign. This video has better translation in the Closed Captioning. Original Vestinik Kavkaza video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yDF1HOFxfM
(Here’s an English Transcript, subtitles with auto-translate recommended.)
What makes Dr. Lozansky’s remarks about Flynn and Rohrabacher truly extraordinary is that Donald Trump himself only revealed his list of foreign policy advisors to WaPo on March 21st, 2016.
That’s when Trump famously declared Carter Page, Ph.D. at the top of the list, and inspiring ridicule for naming an advisor that listed Model UN experience on his resume.
Nowhere was General Flynn or Rep. Rohrabacher on Trump’s list.
A bombshell report from Washington Post revealed that House Republican leadership knew last June — three months after Dr. Lozansky’s affable commentary — that then-candidate Trump and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) were being funded by Russia.
Sure enough, just as Lozansky predicted, Reagan Republicans began to factor heavily into the Trump campaign’s foreign affairs.
At the time, Rep. Rohrabacher was a public Ted Cruz supporter, and claimed the next day on MSNBC that Trump would horrify Nancy Reagan.
Indeed, Trump’s rise was linked to the re-appearance a small army of former Reagan Republicans, just as Dr. Lozansky presciently predicted:
Paul Manafort, Trump Campaign Manager ran the southern region of Reagan’s 1980 campaign, where he implemented the GOP’s infamously racist “Southern Strategy” designed by Lee Atwater, his late partner in Black, Manafort, Stone, Kelly.
Richard Burt, former Reagan State Department official and Ambassador to Germany
Ex-felon Bud McFarlane, who served as Reagan’s National Security Advisor, with campaign duties unknown to Trump. He showed up during the transition to endorse K.T. McFarland, a Flynn-linked Deputy NSA who got caught giving Trump fake news.
Jack Abramoff, the villainous Republican super-lobbyist and College Republicans founder, whose last scandal sent himself multiple House GOP Congressmen to jail for felonies.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who was nominated to a federal judgeship by Reagan in 1986.
Dr. Lozansky presciently predicted that America would undergo a revolution at the ballot box last year, without the “burning of tires and Maidan” like Ukraine. He told Russian TV with a sly smile last March that his name for the coming revolution was so good he ‘should patent it’:
“The ‘Stars and Stripes’ revolution.”
Ironically, Lozansky’s website RussiaHouse.org published this shamelessly opposite story accusing Hillary Clinton of disinformation for claiming that Russia was waging a color war against America — which she could amply do after watching the propagandist’s video remarks.
In July 2015, Lozansky also wrote a story entitled “Reagan team against Obama and Congress” where he named his dream team to fight for Russia:
Among them several of the team of Ronald Reagan — his speechwriter Dana Rohrabacher, former ambassadors Jack Matlock and Chas Freeman, Assistant US Treasury Secretary in the Reagan administration Paul Craig Roberts (Paul Craig Roberts), Head department of public Relations in the Reagan administration Patrick Buchanan, director of budget management in the Reagan administration David Stockman, a former CIA intelligence analyst Raymond McGovern, preparing the President’s daily briefs, former Special Advisor to the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, Anthony Salvia and others.
One of Ronald Reagan’s former Ambassadors — turned Alfa Bank lobbyist — Richard Burt, arrived with white papers for Sessions, as if on cue.

Burt continued to represent the Nord Stream II pipeline project for Russian state-owned gas company Gazprom up until March.
Richard Burt’s also the Managing Director of McLarty Associates, a conservative Washington lobbying firm which used to be partners with Henry Kissinger.
Reagan’s former National Security Advisor, the convicted felon Bud McFarlane, played an unknown role in the campaign and transition.
Both Burt and McFarlane played key roles in Trump’s first major foreign policy speech at the Mayflower Hotel on April 27th, 2016.
Richard Burt even wrote Trump’s speech at the Mayflower Hotel.
Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions was a previous Reagan appointee who failed notoriously nominated at Senate confirmation of his federal judgeship.

American University In Moscow Shares An Unusual Home Address With Putin’s Eastern Ukrainian Propagandist

Dr. Lozansky, did teach Mathematics and Physics at George Washington University and American University in Washington, D.C. decades ago, but he started the American University in Moscow in 1990.
Now he’s described on Izvestia as a “Social Sciences” professor where he declares Donald Trump’s problems a “witch hunt.”
Lacking a staff, a campus, instructor or diplomas, Lozansky’s American University in Moscow today is no more real than Trump University.
His Twitter handle proclaims that he is “President and Founder of the American University in Moscow and the World Russia Forum. Professor of Moscow State and National Research Nuclear Universities,” and he appears regularly to pitch Putin propaganda in both Russian and Western media — like BBC — to give his perspective as a US citizen and Trump voter under that title.
Image
A search of the Russian version of the ‘White Pages,’ reveals that Lozansky’s “University” shares a swank Moscow address with the Center for Liberal Conservative Politics (here’s another directory) which was founded by long time Lozansky associate Arkady Musharev.
Today, the Center for Liberal Conservative Politics is headed by a man nicknamed “the Cossack” who none one of Putin’s top propagandists named Aleksandr Kazakov (aka Alexander Kazakov).
Kazakov’s role as an advisor to the Donetsk Republic puts him directly in charge of the daily messaging for a breakaway Russian Republic and ties him directly to the Kremlin.
Recently leaked emails show Alexander Kazakoff reports back to “Kremlin Puppetmaster” Vadislav Surkov — a top Putin deputy sanctioned by the EU for his “special war” efforts — who is considered so important to Russian efforts in the region, that he was sent to Berlin to negotiate about the future of Ukraine recently.
Amazingly, the address information and recent report from the Guardian independently confirms a leaked 2009 email that Wikileaks released in a cache of emails stolen from top private US intelligence company Stratfor.
The CIA contractor believed then, that that Dr. Lozansky also reports to Vladislav Surkov.
Ukraine fact checking website StopFake reports that Kazakov is definitely on Putin’s official payroll as “an ‘ideological curator’ whose job is to improve the rebel leader’s image”:
Russian official newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, which also lists Mr. Kazakov as a deputy director of the ZPK. The consulting firm has its offices in a modern office tower in downtown Moscow. On its website, the ZPK boasts about its “collaboration with the presidential administration,” abbreviated as AP.
The AP is a well-known and powerful institution in Russia, Moscow’s counterpart to the Federal Chancellery in Berlin, but with more clout. It is President Putin’s power center.
Here’s the directory listings for American University in Moscow and Kazakov’s think tank:

Was The Father Of Russia’s Lobbying Efforts in America An Unregistered Foreign Agent?

The totality of an overwhelming body of written and photographic evidence suggests that Dr. Lozansky is acting as an unregistered agent of the Russian state.
However, without proof of foreign payments linked to his activities, that would be impossible to prove.
However, Dr. Edward Lozansky literally wrote the book in Russian on how to lobby in America.
Then Russian Foreign Ministry’s company imprint “International Relations” was Lozansky’s publisher.
Furthermore, the relationship between Lozansky’s American University in Moscow is unclear, though his website claims that the “school” is housed on that public school campus.
Just like General Flynn’s FARA registration resulted from a contract with a state-connected company, one can easily argue that Edward Lozansky should have registered as a foreign agent of the Russian Federation long ago.
Our research uncovered this Novus Corporation FARA registration, which is pretty striking evidence that someone knew Edward Lozansky is far closer with the Russian state than previously disclosed. (embedded below)
Novus filed under for lobbying work performed in 1991 on behalf of the Russian Republic, distinct from its former client states.
The Novus filing lists Edward Lozansky’s Russia House as the Russian government’s official “foreign trade organization.”

Excerpt from FARA registration for Russian Republic in 1991.
Lozansky founded Russia House, uses the name to this day, and the actual house in DC is still around, though in October it was put up for sale.
Dr. Lozansky knows the rules on Foreign Agent Registration well, but in a 2007 very defensive interview, he specified that he preferred not to register as an agent of the Russian Federation — while he hosted annual events at their Embassy and brought their Ambassador to the halls of Congress and published books with the Russian Foreign Ministry — because it would “not appeal to him at all.”
He claimed that restaurant income from Russia House provided him an income.
Image
Novus’ board of directors included two Americans citizens, who both passed away in 2013 and both were eulogized in the Washington Post.
It was formed the day before the FARA registration.
Six months after this FARA registration, the Russian Soviet government fell in a coup.
Three months after that, Lozansky announced the grand opening of “Russia House” at 1800 Connecticut Avenue NW, only blocks away from the US Capitol.
L. Ronald Schleman is the man addressed in the pictured letter from the Supreme Soviet.
Schleman ended his career as a Senior Advisor in McLarty Associates, the high-powered lobbying firm which had Henry Kissinger as a name partner for many years.
Dr. Edward Lozansky’s matter of fact expression of the importance of General Flynn to the Trump Campaign — as well as Rep. Dana Rohrabacher and other Reagan Republicans — betrays an inner knowledge well beyond the realm of speculation.
Lozansky’s Moscow address betrays his Kremlin ties.
American lobbyists for the Russian Federation betrayed the real reason Lozansky founded Russia House.
Dr. Edward Lozansky has been doing this in Washington, D.C. right out in the open for 40 years now.
In the halls of Congress.
Annually.
Just watch this C-SPAN video where Lozansky insults Sen. John McCain in 2008 from the Hart Senate Office building, after the Presidential candidate refused his offer to speak at the World Russia Forum:
U.S.-Russia Relations

A forum was held on the U.S.-Russia relationship. Topics included current U.S. relations with Russia and what that…

Putin’s Favorite Congressman Secretly Met With Paul Manafort After The FBI Warned Russian Agents Were Recruiting Him

Part 3 of a 10 part series: the Grand Old Putin Party

Left: Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), with Rep. Steve King (R-IA) in Moscow 2013. Right: Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort
Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy believed that Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) was being financed by the Russians, along with Trump.
House Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) reaction — to demand silence from the “family” of assembled GOP lawmakers and staff — was a chilling reminder of the political secrets kept at the highest level of our government.
The secret that Republicans believed their own candidate for president was cheating, and didn’t breathe a word of their knowledge to the public almost a year since the secret recording of their conversation was made.
Rep. Rohrabacher also raised eyebrows recently when he openly admitted to Politico that working with disgraced former Republican super lobbyist, Jack Abramoff.
Then, the New York Times reported that FBI Agents warned Representative Rohrabacher in 2012, that Russian intelligence was trying to recruit him, but as some point out, it’s doubtful the strongly pro-Putin Republican would even know if he was turned.
The California lawmaker respsonded that he didn’t need the FBI’s warning because, “Russian intelligence has been after me since I was a teenager.”
Less than a year after that FBI warning, Congressman Rohrabacher met with Republican operative Paul Manafort — under FBI investigation for his time as Trump’s campaign manager, and shady real estate deals — who had been employed for a long time by Ukraine’s opposition party, the Party of Regions.
Unusually, Manafort didn’t file a lobbying registration or register as a foreign agent.
Massachusetts lawyer J. Whitfield Larrabee filed a criminal complaint with the Clerk of the House of Representatives over the meeting Manafort wanted to keep secret, and he submitted his documentation (embedded below) to Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller as well.
He says that it’s not just a criminal offense by Manafort, but it’s indicative of a secret deal:
In lobbying Congressman Rohrabacher in March of 2013, Manafort very likely violated the Lobbying Disclosure Act (“LDA”) and the Foreign Agents Registration Act (“FARA”). FARA requires that detailed disclosures be filed with the Department of Justice. Although he promised to file the required documents, Manafort has failed to do so. The LDA requires that lobbying reports be filed with the Clerk of the House of Representatives.
Ex-Congressman Vin Weber, who lobbied Rohrabacher with Manafort, filed a lobbying report. Yet, Manafort, who knows of his filing obligations, has failed to file any lobbying reports in relation to his meeting with Rohrabacher. Manafort knows of his filing obligations, but has continued to violate the law. Perhaps he has made a deal to cooperate with the Department of Justice. It seems likely that the day of reckoning for Manafort cannot be far off.

Who Wants To Be Putin’s Favorite Congressman?
Rep. Rohrabacher has earned his public reputation as Putin’s favorite Congressman, and the two men famously met over 20 years ago and arm-wrestled in a St. Petersburg bar. Politico wrote:
Rohrabacher’s transformation from Cold Warrior to Kremlin champion has puzzled colleagues. In Rohrabacher’s telling, Americans have gratuitously antagonized Russia instead of seeking common ground against greater threats from China and Islamic terrorism. That worldview has made him a fixture in Russian state media.
“ ‘Stupidity hurts us all’: US decision makers ignorant about Russia — Congressman Rohrabacher,” blared a headline in RT, the state-controlled news outlet.
“Rohrabacher, who comes from this Reganite background, has totally been turned around,” Anders Aslund, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, a non-partisan think tank, said. “Rohrabacher has been on this soapbox for many years and it’s considered outside the norm.”
Rep. Rohrabacher met with sanctioned Russian officials last year, while escorting pro-Russia lobbyists around Capitol Hill in opposition to the Magnitsky Act, the global anti-corruption law.
Just this month, the Russian tax fraud case that claimed Hermitage Capital’s money and Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky’s life, was settled in a Manhattan federal court, with the plaintiffs winning triple damages in the amount of $5.9 million dollars.
Hermitage Capital’s new Russian counsel fell four stories — nearly to his death — just before he could testify earlier this year.
Dismissed US Attorney Preet Bharara had been prosecuting the case, but now that it won’t go to trial, the trail of official corruption won’t be exposed publicly.
Magnitsky’s killers didn’t admit guilt in the settlement.
Rohrabacher has associated with Reagan Administration extremists for decades, such as the vehemently anti-muslim activist Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy, for whom the California Republican presented an award to conservative mega-donor Robert Krieble f0r his efforts in Russia.
When the Los Angeles Times asked him about Russian influence in this year’s election, Rohrabacher deployed the Soviet propaganda device whataboutism — a logically fallacious call to hypocrisy — to evade confronting the fact that his friends helped the Republican Party cheat in this year’s elections:
“Did they try to influence our election? We have tried to influence their elections, and everybody’s elections. The American people are being fed information that would lead them to believe that we need to be in a war-like stance when it comes to Russia.”
Jack Abramoff Returns: He’s The Ghost Of Republican Scandals Past
Russian propagandist Dr. Lozansky made prescient remarks — claiming that Rep. Rohrabacher would be involved in Trump’s campaign with with other Reagan supporters — predating Politico’s report in February by almost a year, and hinting at disgraced ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s return.
The GOP super lobbyist is back to representing foreign powers after spending 3 1/2 years in federal prison after causing a massive Republican party-wide scandal by laundering money for political purposes
Naturally, Congressman Rohrabacher confirmed that he’s been working with Jack Abramoff and his mysterious “European” backers on a project purportedly in Africa.
Abramoff agreed to act as a liaison between his European friends whom he declined to name, the president of the Republic of Congo, and Rohrabacher to try to establish a coalition of African states to defeat the terrorist group Boko Haram. Abramoff’s friends — who Abramoff said he believes have financial investments in Congo — were in talks with the country’s controversial president, Denis Sassou Nguesso, to try to enlist the United States to support the coalition.
Jack Abramoff is now a registered lobbyist for Ukrainian oligarch Dmytro Firtash — who got sued for doing business in Manhattan with Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort — and the ex-felon travelled overseas seeking to keep him from being extradited to the US.
Firtash is currently wanted by the FBI and awaiting extradition in Austria, and because of his participation in Paul Manafort’s US shady real estate schemes.
Firtash is considered by many to be the missing link between Putin and Trump.
Republican Super Lobbyist Abramoff Went to Russia, And Brought Back The Oil Money
In 1997, Jack Abramoff — a protégé of Paul Weyrich and Robert Krieble — went to work for Russian interests.
NaftaSib — the Russian oil company who paid Jack Abramoff and others — may have been part of Gazprom due to the shareholder equity.
Sen. John McCain (R-Az.) worked hard to bury the story of Russian oil money flowing into Republican coffers, while everyone focused Jack Abramoff’s role in Indian Casino gambling, and his fraudulent purchase of a fleet of 11 casino boats from Miami Subs restaurant chain founder Gus Boulis. The last convictions in the SunCruz case were handed down in a Florida criminal court in 2015, because the Republican super lobbyist’s partner, Adam Kidan, hired a mafia hitman that murdered Boulis.
The Washington Post reported in 2005 that NaftaSib “has business ties with Russian security institutions.”

The Washington Post’s report in 2005 on Russian oil company NaftaSib’s funding for Republican causes
NaftaSib set up an offshore shell company in the Bahamas, Chelsea Commercial.
Then Chelsea Commercial used Russian oil money to hire lobbyists Jack Abramoff and current Trump administration team member Patrick Pizzella, a conservative who’s worked out of the Council for National Policy offices recently.
Abramoff and disgraced former House Majority leader Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Tx.) then had Ed Buckham set up the US Family Network as a cover operation to receive the payments.
Then, NaftaSib paid British firm James and Sarch to pay the US Family Network, which would in turn funnel the cash into Jack Abramoff and Tom DeLay’s bank accounts.
The US Family Network would also pay the National Center for Public Policy Research with dirty money to fly people to and from Moscow in the late 90s.
In January 1998, Abramoff’s American Security Council lobbyists organized a meeting between Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin and NaftaSib.

Russia went on to default on their international debts in June 1998, which led to a series of bridge loans from the Washington, D.C. based International Monetary Fund, which House Republicans opposed.
(Incidentally, this the very same crisis which led to Yeltsin hiring Putin as the head of the FSB — Russia’s internal security intelligence service — and a few months installing his mentor Yevgeny Primakov as Prime Minister.)
That’s when NaftaSib wired a million dollar payment to Rep. DeLay.
The Washington Post reports Rep. DeLay was first offered in cash.
Barrister David Sarch of the British law firm James & Sarch — who handled arrangements for the payment — died suddenly aged 57, about a month before the single, million dollar check was disbursed.
Without much delay, Rep. DeLay was calling on the IMF to fund the loan.
And he switched positions.
Voted for the IMF loan.
Russia got its money.
In early November 1998, Center for Liberal Conservative Politics founder Arkady Murashev spoke at Lozansky’s Russia House in Washington about his plans to create a political party in other to continue the Krieble legacy.
Later that month, Abramoff flew recently deposed Russian Prime Minister Sergei Kiriyenko out from Russia for a series of high level meetings, for which this itinerary was found in the National Security Caucus Foundations.
Jack Abramoff hosted a luncheon at Russia House for Kiriyenko.
He also met with the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Sen. Jesse Helms (R-NC), and then with Clinton’s Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott
Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright revealed Strobe Talbott’s key role in US-Russia diplomacy in her eulogy for Yevgeny Primakov — where she recalled the “termites” meeting story — which ultimately led to a Russia-NATO agreement.
Sen. Helms accused Talbott of spying for Russia the following year.
Abramoff would go on to lobby for NaftaSib under a different-dutch shell company called Voor Huisen, until he was caught and sentenced to a 4-year prison term on corruption charges related to his lobbying for conservative causes and fundraising with GOP congressmen.
Sergei Kiriyenko would then go on to become the leader of the political party Murashev was talking about, called the Union of Right Forces, and starting in 2005 he spent 11 years atop Rosatom — the Russian version of the Department of Energy, which oversees civilian power generation, as well as technology exports in the sector.
In October 2016, Vladimir Putin surprisingly appointed Sergey Kiriyenko as his First Deputy Chief of Staff, a powerful position in the Kremlin in charge of domestic policy. Kremlin watchers named Kiriyenko public relations prowess as the reason for his appointment, though they lamented his construction of a culture of absolute secrecy at Rosatom, which they believe could be used to cover up a Chernobyl-style disaster, at a time when 2/3rd’s of Russia’s aging nuclear reactors need refurbishment or retirement.
Congressman Rohrabacher would go on to become one of the more eccentric members of Congress for decades.
According to Rohrabacher’s hometown newspaper’s recent report on 21 years of articles in which they call him “OC’s grossest, Whiniest, Congress-loser.” They wrote:
United States Representative Dana Tyrone Rohrabacher is a draft-dodging chicken hawk; a fashionably retarded wingnut; an asteroid-fearing, climate-change-denying free-market anarchist/libertarian/Yaffer; a folk-singing dope smoker who once wrote for the Orange County Register op-ed pages, then speeches for then-President Reagan, before parlaying the latter gig into a successful first run for Congress in 1988 with the help of his pal Ollie North and a pledge to support term limits.
He has not left the House since.
Rep. Rohrabacher’s open entanglement with ex-felon lobbyist Jack Abramoff should concern partisans on both sides of the aisle that there’s a shady deal on progress between the forgotten Republican operative and the pro-Russia congressman.
Americans probably never imagined that Russian President Vladimir Putin could have a favorite Congressman, let alone that that person would be a Republican from California.
Now, Rohrabacher’s views — which match those of propagandist Edward Lozansky very closely — are moving towards the center of Republican ideology.
Here’s a copy of the criminal complaint against Paul Manafort:
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

The GOP’s Favorite Russian Professor Spent Decades Building Conservative Ties To Moscow

Part 4 of a 10 part series: the Grand Old Putin Party

Image
Dr. Edward Lozansky is a key figure in the Trump-Russia scandal, despite his name being a mystery to you.

Meet Eduard Dmitrievich Lozansky, a US citizen and potentially an unregistered foreign agent for the Russian Federation.

He is prolific Putin propagandist.

A citizen of America.

And he is the key man who introduced the Republican Party’s conservative movement to Russia.

This report is not about his pro-Putin political beliefs, but rather it documents his high-profile career in Washington, D.C. that focused upon courting Republican politicians and networking with high ranking members of the Republican conservative movement, which began in 1977 almost immediately after he emigrated from Moscow to Rome to Rochester, N.Y.

Edward Lozansky is so deeply ingratiated into the Republican Party, that his World Russia Forum has regularly been held in the Senate’s Hart Office Building.

In the early 2000s, he facilitated direct lobbying from the Russian government of America’s Congress, while asserting strangely that he’s not a lobbyist, on his lobbying.ru website profile.

According to his early 2004 biography, Dr. Lozansky is a native of Kiev, Ukraine. Interestingly, Lozansky deleted his Ukrainian-roots from his own official biography shortly after the Orange Revolution later that year, according to a review of saved pages over time from Archive.org.

In 2006, the Boston Globe characterized his Russia House as a consultancy business in his biography in an op-editorial he wrote about a meeting between President Bush and President Putin.

In March 1991, an American firm registering as a foreign agent for Russia named interacting with Russia House their sole duty, because they say it was the official trade ministry of the former Soviet government.

Just six months later, many of America’s top conservative activists got escorted by Lozansky straight to the top of the Russian political system, only months after an August 1991 coup deposed the former Soviet government.

Today, Lozansky’s fake University shares office space with Putin’s propaganda team in Eastern Ukraine.

He’s prolific in turning out pro-Putin propaganda and advocating for the normalization of Russian relations with the United States, without concern for human rights, corruption or the illegal annexation of half of the sovereign state of his birth.

And this is about the unusual set of factually documented circumstances which lead to a pair of shocking conclusions:

Dr. Lozansky’s operated the foundational groups of Russian lobbying in the United States, became officially supported by US military think tanks and held decades worth of events in the Senate’s own office buildings, becoming personal friends with many of the founders of top Republican think tanks and organizations.
Dr. Lozansky is most likely one Vladimir Putin’s Chief Advisors in the Russian Federation’s CyberWar against the United States. At the very least, his ideas — including books published by the Russian Foreign Ministry — form the basis for the “special war” we saw deployed against the United States’ 2016 election.
He had rather unusual access to the highest levels of the Soviet Union after having departed as a “dissident,” when emigres typically faced retribution for betraying the State.

“That is striking,” remarked Russian studies expert Christopher Stroop, who holds a Stanford Ph.D. in Russian History.

He’s a visiting instructor at the Honors College at the University of South Florida, a senior research associate with the Postsecular Conflicts Project based at University of Innsbruck, Austria. He said:

“It would certainly indicate that the Soviets were letting Lozansky out for a reason. That’s a good reason to examine his background as a possible agent of influence.”
“An exit visa for someone with Lozansky’s educational background would be highly unusual.”
In fact, allowing a highly educated physicist who trained at the top nuclear to depart the Soviet Union at all is highly unusual, but his anti-communist activities kept him in the highest circles of power in Washington D.C.’s conservative movement for decades.

Ed Lozansky also currently sits on the board of the Eurasia Center and runs the World Russia Forum.

Lozansky also associated himself with the dubious American non-profit corporation “American Institute of the Ukraine” who unceremoniously yanked its website last year, and he’s a member of the “American Council for Kosovo.”

He also founded “Russia House” in DC, a consulting group whose mission is to “bring decision makers together” where he has hosted annual World Russia Forums every year since 1981.

Dr. Lozansky told Reason.com (then Reason magazine) in 1981 that he had a “flair for public relations work.”

Lozansky has used that prowess to deliver an endless stream of pro-Putin propaganda, while hiding behind a multiplicity of facades, and publishing on The Nation, Sputnik, Izvestia, Echo.ru, the Washington Times and as a frequent commenter on Pravda, increasingly on Russian television and through numerous other outlets including his little read Kontinent website.

Lozansky’s Improbable, But Factual Story Of Departing The Soviet Union

The New York Times reported that Dr. Lozansky was part of the prestigious Kurchatov Institute, where most of the Soviet nuclear weapons were designed.

He fled the Soviet Union for the USA in the late 1970’s, purportedly for getting caught criticizing the Communist regime, purportedly for speaking about Nobel Prize-winning physicist Andrei Sakharov’s ideas.

Physicist Ed Lozansky parlayed his conspicuously fantastic personal story about fleeing the Soviet Union as a dissident scientist — which even the Poughkeepsie newspapers noted contemporaneously — into getting his Congressional representative Frank Horton (R-NY) to make a resolution to the floor of the House of Representatives. (see page 57)

Image

Except from 1979 article “Teacher who hated Russian system would leave job, family again”
Horton asked President Carter to secure the passage of his family in May 1979.

It worked.

President Jimmy Carter personally, and directly lobbied Soviet Premier Brezhnev at the 1979 US-Russia summit to sign the SALT II nuclear arms treaty in Vienna weeks later, but to no avail.

Later that year, he arranged for nearly all of the Nobel Prize Winners — including Mother Teresa — to sign a letter to the Soviets begging for the release of his family.

Lozansky rapidly cultivated very important ties in Washington’s halls of power after that, meeting and befriending Senators Bob Dole &Jack Kemp who would later run for president, and Billy Graham and Mark Levin.

In the early 1980’s, Senators Dole and Kemp helped Lozansky’s wife to obtain an exit visa from the Soviet Union, to legally emigrate to the United States.

But only after conducting a public “marriage in absentia” for the news media, ostensibly to embarrass the Soviets.

Senator Dole campaigned to be President in 1996 with Jack Kemp as his running mate.

Image

Taken from the 1996 Dole/Kemp Presidential campaign website, itself an interesting web time capsule :http://www.dolekemp96.org/main.htm
President Ronald Reagan set up a meeting between Lozansky and then-Vice President George H.W. Bush on May 26th, 1982. Weeks later, Edward Lozansky’s wife was freed and she came to the United States.

In 1982 Lozansky secured his wife’s exit visa and turned his story into a book called “For Tatiana” which told his true life international love story with a high ranking Soviet General’s daughter, a Communist Romeo and Juliet.

He sold the book deal and movie rights for the money used to buy the Washington DC property a few blocks from the White House which he named, “Russia House.”

Dr. Lozansky formed the Andrei Sakharov Institute in 1983, to advocate for quarantined Soviet dissident physicist Andrei Sakharov, and he became its Executive Director

Image
Bob Dole and Jack Kemp were listed as members of the board.

Vladimir Bukovsky served on the board of Lozansky’s Sakharov Institute, right around the time he formed what could be best described as an American propaganda group, Resistance International, which received considerable funding from Congress. Both groups also shared Robert Conquest and Reagan Administration neoconservative Richard Perle as members.

Some of the early World Russia Forums were co-sponsored by Resistance International.

Amazingly, in 1989 his father-in-law told the New York Times that the Soviet Union forgave him for Lozansky betraying the state; it’s a story is that strains credulity, because the former Communist state wasn’t known for its leniency, but rather its vindictiveness.

By 1998 Lozansky’s Russia House had become a fixture in DC’s scene of all things Russian.

In 2010 the Washington Post reported that Ed and Tatiana Lozansky renewed their vows — in Moscow.

Who embarrassed whom?
Dr. Lozansky’s Unlikely Relationship With Paul Weyrich — A Hungarian Nazi Sympathizer Who Reshaped The GOP

Dr. Lozansky was very involved in advocating for the issues of Russian Jewry, which is how he became friends with men like Sandy Gradinger in Rochester

Startlingly, Dr. Lozansky’s most important political relationship was with a conservative activist whose connections to Hungarian Nazis have only been equaled by Donald Trump.

Edward Lozansky teamed up frequently with Heritage Foundation co-founder Paul Weyrich, a man whose right-hand man was a member of the Hungarian Arrow Cross, and whose groups were politically active in European far-right politics.

For example, here’s just one article Lozansky and Weyrich co-authored in 2001.

In 2008, Paul Weyrich wrote an op/ed on Newsmax (since removed) where he stated that it was Ed Lozansky who 20-years prior brought up to him the idea of Russia joining NATO.

Wikipedia sums up Paul Weyrich’s Nazi connections thusly:

Weyrich founded the Committee for the Survival of a Free Congress (CSFC),[5] an organization that trained and mobilized conservative activists, recruited conservative candidates, and raised funds for conservative causes.
The CSFC, founded by Weyrich, “became active in eastern European politics after the Cold War. Figuring prominently in this effort was Weyrich’s right-hand man, Laszlo Pasztor, a former leader of the pro-Nazi Arrow Cross Party in Hungary, which had collaborated with Hitler’s Reich. After serving two years in prison for his Arrow Cross activities, Pasztor found his way to the United States, where he was instrumental in establishing the ethnic-outreach arm of the Republican national Committee.”[8]
In addition to his Nazi activities, Paul Weyrich coined the term the “Moral Majority”

He also founded the following “mainstream” conservative groups that are still very, very politically active today:

— The Council for National Policy, which is the main umbrella organization of extremist and right-wing organizations. Here’s a Southern Poverty Law Center report about their activities.

— Turned CSFC into the Free Congress Foundation, which is now known as American Opportunity, which advocates a mainstream conservative platform, headed by Va. Governor Jim Gilmour

— ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council) which is a powerful multi-state lobbying shop for large corporate interests.

Dr. Lozansky’s voluminous list of acquaintances overlaps heavily with the Council for National Policy, which is a conservative umbrella organization of right-wing movements in the religious, media, ‘Tea Party’ and anti-taxation movements.

“Weyrich told me directly, at a 1990 conference, how abortion had nothing to do with the rise of the religious right.” Dartmouth Professor Randall Balmer said, telling us about his personal encounter to us with the man at the heart of the modern religious right conservative movement, which he wrote about in depth in Politico.

He said to me, ‘Absolutely, the movement began as a backlash against the loss of tax exemption at segregated religious institutions, specifically Bob Jones University.’

“Nothing got their attention,” the Professor recounted being told by Weyrich, “until we discovered the tax issue.”
More importantly, Edward Lozansky’s relationship with Paul Weyrich placed him in contact with the head of every Republican organization of consequence for the last four decades.

In turn, Paul Weyrich ingratiated himself into the upper echelon of Russian politics at the very hour of the downfall of the former Soviet government.

Weyrich expressed great concern in an August 28th, 1991 C-SPAN video about his people in Russia ten days after the Communist government fell— because the KGB considered them part of a spy program — when they lost touch for three days.

One of his people he said was Boris Yeltsin’s “campaign manager” Anatoly Chubais.

Chubais was soon thereafter appointed by Yeltsin to be in charge of the privatization of Russian state assets.

Anatoly Chubais very job involved picking winners and losers in the post-Soviet era, and he even rushed to accelerate Russian privatization sales in the mid-90s.

It’s difficult to describe a twenty-year relationship in a single column, but examining Paul Weyrich’s reaction to the FBI denying visas to World Russia Forum participants provides a window into the importance of these events to this man at the very center of the conservative movement.

He wrote a story entitled “The FBI: Slamming The Door On Important Russian Friends”:

I know it doesn’t pay to get angry in this business. Still, I can’t help being angry over a totally unjustified situation. For the past several years, the Free Congress Foundation, of which I am chairman and CEO, has co-sponsored The Russian Forum with the American University in Moscow and Russia House, both run by Ed Lozansky, a former dissident from Soviet days, who is now welcomed by the Putin government.
Last year, only a third of the Russians who applied for visas to participate in the Forum were approved. We understood. It was just six months after September 11. There was increased concern about security. So while it threw our conference into chaos, we didn’t make a federal issue out of it. After the conference, we did supply the list of names of those who were denied visas to then-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) who promised to take up the matter with the U.S. State Department. We never heard another word from Lott.
This year’s Russian Forum was held one week ago. Not a single Russian who applied for a visa was approved. There were, I am told, some fifty applicants who wanted to participate in the conference one way or the other. These are not folks off the street, mind you. Some are Russian businessmen. Others are Members of the State Duma. Then there are those who have served in government, such as officials at the National Academy of Sciences. Still others are academics.
While thousands sneak across the US-Mexican border every week and while there are known terrorists lurking about in Canada, hoping to find a way into this country, the place where the brakes are being applied is Moscow.
“I’m still angry but I intend to get even.”
Paul Weyrich died in 2008.

Right-Wing American Politicians Embraced The Right-Wing Of Russia Politics

First, the Sakharov Institute signed on to a Petition from the Abramoff-linked American Security Council to nix the Anti Ballistic Missile treaty (ABM).

Then the Sakharov institute board voted to dissolve the institute due to a financial dispute between Lozansky and the Sakharov family, not long before the famous scientist passed away in late 1989.

Luckily for Lozansky, right-wing millionaire Robert Krieble was elderly during that time, and about to ready to retire. First, he wanted to destroy the Soviet Union. Krieble reached out to his friend, Paul Weyrich, the Christo-fascist creator of all things far right, and suggested they go to Russia and train people. Weyrich called Jack Wheeler and the wheels began to turn.

Meanwhile, the Soviet Union was doing a fantastic job of failing all on its own.

Pro-Democratic forces in the Soviet Union formed the “Inter-regional deputies group” consisting of Moscow Mayor Popov, Arkady Murashev — who founded the Center For Liberal Conservative Politics (with Robert Krieble) and was a speaker at Lozansky’s 2007 World Russia Forum in DC — and Anatoly Sobchak, Putin’s murdered mentor.

Hearing what Weyrich and Krieble were doing, Dr. Lozansky jumped at the opportunity to further his agenda.

He reached out to Paul Weyrich and offered to provide translation and in November of 1989, the Krieble Institute was formed.

Image

Moscow Mayor Popov Lozansky’s partner in American University in Moscow.
Literally, on one day Lozansky made the introductions to Mayor Popov, then the next day, the first training occurred and Lozansky made the claim it was a joint project between his then-called “Free Institute” and Weyrich’s “Free Congress Association.”

A few days later, a meeting of the leaders on both sides occurred and a movement was born.

The missionaries of the right would soon visit Moscow.

In early 1990, Yuri Ossipyan and Arkady Murashev came to the United States, where they met with a verifiable who’s who of the American right, like Dan Quayle, Bob Dole, Jack Kemp, and Jesse Helms.

Paul Weyrich brought them to a meeting of the Council for National Policy in Phoenix before he met with Bush about funding this venture.

In 1990 Lozansky launched the American University of Moscow as a collaboration between the Soviet far right and the American far right.

Throughout the early 1990s, all the major think tanks opened offices in Moscow.

The Heritage Foundation shared a building with Lozansky’s American University of Moscow.

Image

In October 1991, Lozansky opened Russia House at an event with Robert Krieble, Paul Weyrich, and Mayor Popov.

The relationships and connections continued to blossom and Lozansky’s dream of an American-Russian super-alliance seemed to be drawing closer to reality.

When Paul Weyrich died in 2009, Republican Congressman Joe Wilson eulogized him on the floor of Congress thusly:

Image

Rep. Joe Wilson talks about working for the Krieble Institute. He goes on to co-author the Congressional Report on US-Russia relations and attended a few of the World Russia Forums
Paul Manafort Was On the Center of Democracy Board With Edward Lozansky

Research into the innocuous sounding “Center for Democracy” unveiled a few surprises.

First, the Center for Democracy operated in tandem with Krieble Institute in the Soviet Union.

They both ran training in an effort to spread right-wing propaganda, they both eventually abandoned an alliance with Gorbachev to befriend Boris Yeltsin, and the leaders of both supported Lozansky in his effort to create his fake University and his thinly veiled intelligence operation in Washington DC.

Secondly, Paul Manafort and Henry Kissinger served on the board of the CFD.

Paul Manafort, Jack Abramoff, Bob Dole, Dana Rohrabacher, and Paul Weyrich seem to be the prime movers behind the American Conservative movement’s allying with the fascist political movements of Russia, but Dr. Ed Lozansky has done more to unite these two groups than virtually anyone else.

Dr. Lozansky joined the Committee for a Free Afghanistan in 1984.

The CFA was a project between the Abramoff supported American Security Council, Accuracy in Media, and Paul Weyrich’s Free Congress Foundation.

Everyone mentioned below is also part of the Council for National Policy.

Other reports place House Representative Dana Rohrabacher in Afghanistan during that time period.

John McCain’s 2008 Presidential Campaign Was Run By Paul Manafort’s Business Partner Rick Davis

Senator McCain is a staunch opponent of Russia and its authoritarian President Vladimir Putin.

However, McCain still hired Paul Manafort’s partner as his campaign manager anyway.

It led The Nation to question what a McCain presidency would’ve looked like thusly:

Image

Republican candidate John McCain meets with his wife and Campaign Manager Rick Davis in 2008.
The story of how McCain’s closest aides and employees have been undermining his vociferously expressed opposition to Putin and Russia’s oligarchs offers a highly disturbing preview of what a McCain administration might look like.
When McCain’s campaign proclaims “country first,” one has to wonder, Which country? The one with the highest bidder?
Sen. McCain stood idly by, and watched up close and personally, as his campaign manager’s friends assisted Putin in taking over de facto control of Montenegro, while Davis introduced the Republican to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska. He called the events in Montenegro:

“The greatest European democracy project since the end of the Cold War.”
Later, Oleg Deripaska became best known as the Russian oligarch named in an AP report as funding Trump Campaign manager Paul Manafort in a multi-year PR campaign to burnish Putin’s image.

That’s why Deripaska invited the Arizona Republican to celebrate his 70th birthday on his yacht in the Adriatic Sea, which he attended.

Ex-Senator Bob Dole was also on Deripaska’s payroll in his quest to gain a US entry visa, and he was also on the payroll of Montenegro.

John McCain also had anti-Putin lobbyists on his payroll — one of whom received considerable payments as an agent of the Georgian Republic — that ultimately resulted in a phone call from the GOP’s presidential candidate to that nation’s president, only a few months before Putin invaded and created the breakaway Republic of South Ossetia, which is not internationally recognized.

Ultimately, McCain decided against going full Putin during his 2008 GOP Presidential campaign, and he refused to hire Paul Manafort to run his Republican National Convention efforts — even though he was partners with Davis his campaign manager — purportedly over his Ukrainian ties.

Ultimately, Donald Trump would choose to hire Paul Manafort for the very same position in 2016, to fight a bitter intra-party battle for the sole of the Republican party at their convention in Cleveland.

It would prove to be a fateful decision.

Conclusion

Dr. Edward Lozansky has devoted his life to this goal, making some very important friendships and alliances over the years.

We have tied him to every major player, every major initiative, and every major conservative think tank, the Republican Senate caucus, Presidents and Republican candidates and more since he arrived in the United States.

His relationship with America began with a whirlwind ride to the top of national news and international politics.

That’s where he has stayed for decades, but has he been deceiving his Republican friends and acting a paid the agent of the Russian state?

Lozansky told us no on Twitter in the one question he has answered thus far:

“Your AIUM (American University In Moscow) is supposedly located on Moscow State’s campus. Where? Is that paid for by the Russian state?”

Here’s a screenshot of AIUM’s web page on his Russia House website today.

American University In Moscow: Linked To Russian State, But Fake Like TrumpU

Image
Left: The stock photo of Moscow State University on Lozansky’s website for American University in Moscow.
Dr. Edward Lozansky is best known publicly as President of the American University of Moscow.

It is quite possibly the only university more fake than Trump University.

American University in Moscow has no listed courses, and no faculty.

It’s a university only in name, supposedly to hand out diplomas equivalent to an MBA in the US to Russian students.

All you have to do today to get one of these “diplomas” — the Russian flavor of the frequently maligned “participation trophy” — is to keep up on your assignments (propaganda reading) and submit a really good 600-word essay to Professor Ed.

Their official website uses a stock photo of Moscow State University, from Wikipedia.

Research about the physical address Lozanzky lists for his university and open source internet investigation reveals the sham existence of American University in Moscow.

American University in Moscow’s physical addresses also betray links to the very highest levels of the Putin regime.

It all points to one man — Vladislav Surkov — being Dr. Lozansky’s point of contact in the Kremlin.

Image

The Russian professor lists a tiny physical office space at Novy Arbat 15, Suite 2221, Moscow, Russia 119019 in Moscow as its headquarters, which measures only 145 sq. ft. according to this listing of a similar spot.

The Washington Post reported on the 1990 birth of American University in Moscow, and big names were dropped, Presidents were briefed and friends of Premiers involved.

Miraculously, we found a November 4th, 1991 Top Secret cable from the State Department about Lozansky’s university plans, explaining why they chose not to sponsor the American University in Moscow.

American diplomats were dismayed by Popov’s (and by extension Lozansky’s) utter lack of any follow through, and their false claims that President Bush and former British Prime Minister Thatcher sponsored the project — they did not — which resulted in serious discussions about the project between American diplomats with their counterparts from Britain, France and Germany being recorded in a confidential memo.

The school still lists Bush and Thatcher as co-founders today.

Popov is still listed as a co-founder of the still functioning International School, and a player in Moscow politics.

(Ed. Note 6/8/28: The above two links have broken as International School rebranded itself to Moscow International University and removed its historical backstory as seen on May 24, 2017 here in the Internet Archive.)

Lozansky is not listed.

There is also the mystery of former US Ambassador Michael McFaul’s interactions with Russia House and Lozansky’s “University” dating back to his 2012 interview with the group — where they ask him about his working relationship with Vladimir Surkov.

Former US Ambassador to Russia Mike McFaul spent a day at the real International University in Moscow in 2013.

Even though it is nominally supposed to be the same institution, he reports that nobody mentioned Dr. Lozansky, the President of the school.

Lozansky’s public profiles also claim that he’s a Social Scientist at INION — though he’s not found anywhere on their website’s directory, ditto for Moscow State University, which his public websites claim hosts his “American University in Moscow.”

Further public source data investigation shows that Lozansky’s school doesn’t show up in tenant listings of the expensive office building at which it purports to be located in Moscow — where it occupies a rather small space for an entire University — but it is nearby a block of Russian government offices.

Image

Edward Lozansky’s American University in Moscow has these pitifully thin web pages. When it was founded, Lozansky claimed to be sponsored by President Bush and Prime Minister Thatcher, but now he’s substituted former Soviet Premier Gorbachev for Thatcher.
American University In Moscow Shares Space With Putin’s Top Eastern Ukrainian Propagandist

The Russian version of the ‘White Pages’ reveals what appear to be some very direct links between Lozansky and the Kremlin, and an integrated Cyber War team between America and Eastern Ukraine.

Research shows Lozansky’s “American University in Moscow” is sharing a large space in a tawny neighborhood with the Center for Liberal Conservative Politics, a think tank which is now run by one of Putin’s top propagandists, Alexander Kazakov.

Kazakov is Deputy Director of the public relations firm ZPK, which works with the Russian Presidential Administration.

Recent news in The Guardian says that Kazakov reports directly from Eastern Ukraine to Putin’s advisor Vladislav Surkov, after his emails were leaked showing frequent contact.

The combination Lozansky’s unusual space sharing arrangement with a propagandist from the Putin-backed Republic of Donetsk, who reports to Vladislav Surkov confirms the opinion of private US intelligence company Stratfor.

Their top Russia analyst — whose emails were pilfered and released by Wikileaks — Lauren Goodrich said that Lozansky worked for Vladislav Surkov all the way back in 2009:

Yea… has a crazy reputation to where ppl say they aren’t sure exactly who he works for. Americans say he is part of the Putin disinformation club and Russians say he is CIA conspiracy… lots of rumors on both sides. I haven’t met him yet, but hear among the inner circles that he is owned by Surkov. His info is too…. pro-Russian underneath.
Incidentally, the company Stratfor is founded by one of the Hamilton Trading Group’s founders, itself a CIA contractor unusually hired by the RNC in 2016.

Extensive internet searches turned up very little information about a supposedly 27-year old university.

However, what we did find makes it very likely that Edward Lozansky has gotten away with using a very fake academic credential for a long time.

Furthermore, his claims of the University’s ties to the Russian state, via state run universities raise the same specter of unregistered agency for Russia which has plagued the Trump administration’s failed National Security Advisor Gen. Michael Flynn. In Flynn’s case, he avoided registration because his paymaster was nominally not a state itself, but rather a state linked company.

Here’s the declassified memo from America’s Ambassador to Russia declining to participate in Lozansky’s University in 1991 (original link):

A series of investigative reports The Grand Old Putin Party — co-authored by Grant Stern and Patrick Simpson.

PostScript

If all of the above was not unusual enough, the confidential US diplomatic cables about Lozansky’s American University in Moscow were declassified in 2014–16 showed concern that then-Moscow Mayor Popov was involved in shady real estate deals. That’s why nobody in the American government wanted to sponsor his University.

Amazingly, last March there was a shady real estate deal impacting the building listed on Lozansky’s website as containing the University’s headquarters involving a former Glencore trader — the Swiss oil trading company involved in the Trump Russia dossier — and whose sanction busting activities in the 1980s led to Rudy Giuliani’s prosecution of its founder Marc Rich. Former Mayor Popov wasn’t likely involved, but the short story illustrates how corruption works in Russia, and how few degrees of separation there are between that country’s oligarchy and the international intrigues of our day.

A company named Capital Group arranged to buy the trophy office property where AIUM’s offices are located cheaply, with a no-bid contract, from the current Mayor of Moscow and city government. The founder of Capital Group is Vladislav Doronin — who used to work for Mark Rich at Glencore — whom Russian sources indicate is a company that has ties to organized crime. Doronin also founded the OKO Group, which is an international developer which just made a major splash purchasing several trophy properties for development in Miami, a city whose real estate market has the highest rate of suspicious all cash buyers in America today.

We don’t believe that Lozansky has something directly to do with this shady real estate deal. However, it bore mention that his currently self-reported address isn’t listed in public guides and was subject to an unusual privatization deal only recently.
