For the record, I am in complete agreement with Joyce's view, after a lifetime of very close personal experience.
So viva Joyce, the Bloowoomanly man and lifelong socialist artist who was tough enough and sensitive enough to write Ulysses, and to hell with the convenient cliches, the essentialist stereotypes, of Pugnacious Percy and his fascist[oid] ilk.
