Apple? So chic! Certainly the most expensive of the FreeBSD derivatives. And I read recently that they're now bigger than Microsoft, thanks to the iStuff. Should I ever have to buy a new computer it'll probably be a Novatech one, they come without operating system and therefore with a discount, so I shall save the cash and manually install my favoured distro, rather than sucking the unholy satanic juices from the cock of Mr Gates. Or Jobs.

Well, Stephen, if you do what I do for a living, which is draw pictures with a computer, you want a machine which is, to an extent, optimised for that purpose, graphics. And at some point it comes down to feel and familiarity. The Apple products which I have been using since before 1990 possess a certain touch which I have yet to find equalled or exceeded by any cobbled together combination of equipment and operating system that I have come across. So for that, I am mostly grateful to Mr. Jobs and his team of designers, regardless of the recent surge in stock prices and popularity of iFuckAll.

.

Actually, you can run both Windows and Linux on a Mac now. Really the best of all three worlds.

You can also run Linux in various forms from a live CD or live USB, hence not having to install it on your hard drive at all should you not want to. Might need to fiddle with the BIOS a bit, if Apple machines have such things. Could also use Ubuntu Studio, a distribution designed specifically for the role of Studio. Mind you, to me cobbled-togetherness is a good thing, as it shows a certain amount of decentralisation and competition.

And I'm glad to see Willow agreeing with me on the utility of insults.

I guess we really can be nice to one another after all.
