Man indicted for putting semen into yogurt sample
A NEW Mexico grocery store worker who misled a shopper into tasting a yogurt sample tainted with semen was due in court today for a detention hearing, according to KRQE.
Anthony Garcia, 31, was arrested Wednesday by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on federal felony charges of food tampering in relation to the January incident at a Sunflower Market in the US.
DNA testing confirmed that the semen in the sample belonged to Garcia.
Prosecutors were expected to argue for him to be held in custody on the grounds that he could be a danger to society - and a flight risk.
According to federal agents, Garcia has a decade's worth of alleged sex crimes on his record, including exposing himself and masturbating in public.
He is currently awaiting trial over unrelated pending charges of child molestation
