I like this new theme, what with the clear lines and all--is there anything similar with a left-hand view like the prosilver? I spent some time browsing the prefab themes and wasn't too impressed.

Let's set the Getaway Darkblue as the default for now. I'll tinker with some art for tonight.

I haven't seen any. Editing prosilver shouldn't be too big a deal though. For the most part, all you need to do to tweak it is edit its css sheet for colors, etc.

This is good.

ETA...

I'd dump the orange font color indicating new post (?) however in the indexes. Something cooler maybe....magenta?

I love having so many choices of theme! So far I too am happiest with "Getaway Blue". I'll definitely make a theme when projects slow down for me (I'm still slogging through end-of-year projects).

One thing to keep in mind now, as post authors, is the use of text colors in posts will make the text unreadable in some themes, if I'm not mistaken. I've seen this happen on other forums with multiple themes. I guess there's nothing to be done about that, but it's good to keep in mind...

I'm so not into graphics! Still this theme strikes me as very clear and easy to read, which are high up there on the list of what I like. Thanks for putting all this effort in and making the process inclusive. It all makes moving exciting rather than a drag.

Thanks for these choices too. At first I naturally disliked any change, but now I've fallen for prosilver (your original default choice). It sticks the avatars on the right, for one thing, less distraction, easier reading. Also, the type size may be a bit bigger? I don't know. Also, less clutter is good (fewer borders, etc).

What's with the preference for darker colors around here?

Recently I've learned how to design pages, sort of. Strictly html+css, which puts me back in 2002 or so. Which is fine for my purposes, though I suppose I should learn how to do php properly since then you can mix match elements for each page with ease. (Those of you who know coding are probably laughing at how I just revealed my inexperience three different ways.)

Anyway I'm tempted to show the site I designed so you get an idea of the kind of garish tabloid approach that I much prefer!

Handicapped as I am by growing up in the print era, I like darker types on light backgrounds. With margins. Big headlines. Graphics with bright primary colors. That sort of thing. Just call me Kid.

Or, based on the avatar I found, call me Angry Shakespeare.

I've been using 'DivineBlack' all day and night, this one works pretty good for me with the exception that Quick Reply hasn't been coded into it, but I can add that later myself. My favorite forum theme by far was one called Dark Sun, but it hasn't been updated in a while. I'm actually using it on another forum I run, so maybe I'll upload it here for you guys.

Tis good shit, yo.

Angry Shakespeare makes peace with new RI!
by Herky Hawk

Any time a website makes a significant change in its interface, users are bound to have an emotional reaction, whether it be excitement, hesitancy, anger, confusion or any other feeling that comes from having a real or perceived investment in a virtual community.

In these dark days of 24-hour television news and the instant gratification of Google and Wiki knowledge, the design alone of the new major medium can seem garish and repulsive to anyone with a developed sense of newspaper design, tabloid or otherwise.

Despite these obstacles, the denizens of RI persevere.

Falling to the array of choices available at the updated Rigorous Intuition discussion board, even Jack Riddler selects an avatar, and, with his newly-acquired coding knowledge at the fore of his mind, begins his quest for the Holy Grail of print-style Internet interaction, a complete perfection of form and functionality.

I really like where it is going... I think it needs to be a little less tall though. (in reference to it fitting into the darksunyellow theme, I mean)
