Sorry to hear that happened to your wife, lupo. Last year in the fall, that's what happened to me, I was working in construction, making pretty good coin & they were downsizing. They told me I was an excellent worker but they had no choice. Kinda scary when you've got a little family to look after.

I wish you luck for sure, have a virtual brew on me :)

Thanks Peregrine. Yeah, it's a bit scary. Just trying to keep in mind that, in the broader context, we're still a lot better off than many others out there. It looks like she's gonna have a decent severance package, which is more than most get, so that'll help cushion things while we figure out the next move.

Anyway, here's to new beginnings. Cheers to all!

I'd like a pint of whatever is on tap. Followed by a China White. Make that two China Whites. I had a client stand me up for an appointment at the local cafe & I'm rather irritated...

I'll drink to that. And also to the better future, not yet in view, that's just a little ways down the road, lupo. Probably being really difficult to envision. Because while I have absolutely no idea why envisioning a horrible and care-ridden future is so damn effortless whereas envisioning a better future is, for some reason, practically fucking impossible, I do know that (a) it is; and (b) it's not really more predictive than chance, at best. And probably far, far less predictive than that. Given, you know, that people do have some agency in their own lives and stuff. Personally, I blame that rascally better future for not making itself more boldly visible, I guess.

Aw, come on now. No offense intended, Better Future. You know I'm crazy about you, really. I mean, who could resist that smile? Here's to you. Hey! Have you met lupo? You're gonna love each other.

Cheers.

Now don't consider me empty...where did I come to offer what I had???

Cheers!!!!....May it all come together for all of us!!

Crown Royal. Fondly known as Clown Royal in its country of origin.

All us Canadian kids had Crown Royal velvet bags for our marbles.

Yeah but do you actually drink that stuff up north? It's so sweet I keep expecting for an entire bee hive to attack me over it.

I was sure that Rusty the Rooster lived in a Crown Royal bag, though it is obvious now that he does not. I blame black and white television.

I'll have a pint glass packed with snow and just enough Oban Distiller's Edition to make it slushy.

- Nathan28, on Crown Royal.

Oddly, the "sweet" ryes like CRoyal and Canadian Club are the international hits. I think they're pretty gross. Gibson's, Wiser's and Schenley make better ryes.

Schenley OFC is the best rye for the money. ("Our Finest Canadian" or "Only for Catholics.")

BTW, Canadian whiskey is "rye" up here. Different from "rye" in the USA.

I'll have a Black Bushmill's, me.
