Old Speckled Hen is a pretty large volume mainstream bitter. It's now produced by one of Britain's largest breweries, Greene King, which has been accused of monopolistic practices in its active policy of buying up other breweries. One of these breweries was Morland, the original brewer of Old Speckled Hen, which was acquired by Greene King in 1999.
I am sure Tesco do stock it.
It's not bad though.
Sometimes I use it in my stew recipe, but am generally more likely to use a darker, stronger flavoured beer.

...chin up or you'll spill. You like single-malt? The rest are on me. Losing an art studio with a view of trains sounds like losing an eye to me ... it's a good thing artists have sooo many eyes. They're as good or better than cats that way, who have, by my reckoning, roughly 18 of them.
