Old Speckled Hen is a pretty large volume mainstream bitter. It's now produced by one of Britain's largest breweries, Greene King, which has been accused of monopolistic practices in its active policy of buying up other breweries. One of these breweries was Morland, the original brewer of Old Speckled Hen, which was acquired by Greene King in 1999.

I am sure Tesco do stock it.

It's not bad though.

Sometimes I use it in my stew recipe, but am generally more likely to use a darker, stronger flavoured beer.

OK, I'll give you a drink, what's your problem?

I lost the love of my life today!!! (sobbing...)

Yeah, well... who was he?

Not a HE, not a HE!!! They're like buses, honey, and not a damn one of 'em good enough to have me, well, apparently none that's single anyway. No, my studio, MY ART STUDIO! I'm gutted, and I will never be the same again.

Give me another damn drink, thank you.

Just lost number two, art studio number two, with the nice window and the view of the choo-choos. Thank you economy, you fucking bastard. Landlord rented it, gotta be out by Tuesday. FUCK. There goes the weekend, and my bedroom, and my living room, and well everything. FUCK!

Does anyone want any art? I'll be giving it away again, there's no room to store it.

FUCK.

OH PW! That's an awful bit of news!!! I imagine how you must feel - I'd be gutted. :(

Pour yourself a double on me, and if I were close enough to take delivery I'd be there in a moment to purchase one of your gorgeous, soul-stirring works. Treat yourself kindly - perhaps there is another venue with perfect light and sublime views silently waiting to be discovered by you and filled with your passion.

A new journey begins!

:hug1: ...chin up or you'll spill. You like single-malt? The rest are on me. Losing an art studio with a view of trains sounds like losing an eye to me ... it's a good thing artists have sooo many eyes. They're as good or better than cats that way, who have, by my reckoning, roughly 18 of them.

Third time's a charm. :heartflowers:

p.s.(Have you ever linked to a website where you show your work or have I seen more of it posted here...? I feel pretty sure I've seen more of your very fine, very fine drawing ... Is what would make your burden lighter storage wise able to be seen somewhere online ... purchased even? I think we have a barn full of art lovers in here ...)

^^Thank you, both of you. (Feilan, links are in my signature, but here... http://LynnSchirmer.com/)

I'm in denial. I wonder how long I'll just circle around the pile of studio detritus now occupying my kitchen and living room.
If I didn't have a show next month, and in September and in October I could get away with just leaving the mess, maybe.

One thing is true, I have nice friends. My friend who helped me move into my last studio helped me move out today, bless her heart.

I don't know why I cry so much over these things. I think I have an attitude of entitlement when it comes to art studios, even though up until about 2004 I'd done some of my best work in dilapidated bedrooms. I'll gladly eat ramen and endure many other forms deprivation, hell, how about a life lacking intimacy and love? Yeah, who really gives a flying fuck about anything without that? I guess I just have this attitude that I've already had my shit sandwich in life and goddammit, let me have a fucking art studio before I die, you... (I don't believe in God), you... fuckers of the universe, whoever you are. Although considering all the bad in the great wide world, I should not complain I guess.

Something to consider... most of the "well known" artists of our time have access to mega bucks or they could never produce the works for which they've come to be recognized.

^^^Thank you!!!

Adjectives: arresting, staggering, beautiful, lingering... meditative, ...

there are more i'm sure ... but forgive me for the shortlist. i am very hungry for my too-late supper ... a very early morning class looms ...

I wish I had somewhere to put one of them, but I live in the tiniest of apartments and the walls are covered :(

nevertheless: i salute you. i keep you and a perfect place for you to land in my prayers - for what it's worth. :lovehearts:

PW - I call it "The Aliens" - when something highly improbable that screws with my life happens, I like to think of Aliens up above playing a cosmic game of "Life" and we're all the game pieces. They think they are funny sometimes, don't they? They get a kick out of our troubles.

Here's hoping that you've had some time to digest this and are feeling better. Hugs to you. :hug1:

I missed that thread Smiles, but I'll join you in the hangover area as it was First Thursday last night. How about a virgin Bloody Mary and some coffee.

Bar keep? The forces of good rallied today in the form of a gal with braids and a serious plan. A round for the house -- on me; whatever this fine young warrior is drinking --

-- we need more of that.
