It's a day of involuntary entertainment. This song is streaming through my windows, live from Qwest field. I've never been a fan, but it sounds pretty good actually.
oh, by "they" I mean the amorphous "they" of common speech, (contrasted with "them"), not 'they,' the band that preceded.
three cheers for "the silent wind that says, 'you are free' "
and ...
FYI, new MoB...
which is only ONE link away from the mmost precious thing ever, a band name based on a joke about font names, Times New Viking... and it's ok... really a good band...
and so on to ...

Hello. Er, is this barstool free? Thanks. I'd like a pint of Guinness and some screaming blue messiahs, please.
Smash the market! Smash it into firewood! Smash the market! Smash the marketPLYCE! I'll smash it in TOMORROW! Smash it into SPYCE!
...yes, barkeeper, I'm sorry, yesyes, I will quieten down. Sorry. I assure you it won't happen again. No, I'm not from these parts, why do you ask?
My, that Guinness went quickly. Another Guinness, please. And some more...
[Goes mental pogoing round the bar. Everyone joins in, including the bar staff. Revolution breaks out. The marketplace is smashed. Global peace and justice ensue.]
Another pint of Guinness, please. Oh, it's free now, is it? Ah yes, of course it is.
PS: I always loved this song. It's not so much a neglected gem as a neglected juggernaut.

Hey Joe, no Darwin stubby tonight? Hope I live long enough to find myself testing one on some wild adventure one day. .........................
This evening, after, hmm, WOW, it's actually been two years to the date when I first opened this thread! Synchro of synchros, I had no idea! Anyway, after two years, my dear friend Dave is now back behind a bar in the neighborhood. He's not at the Saloon but is newly ensconced in "Dave's Cave" the teen-tiny basement bar of Merchant's Cafe, the "Oldest Restaurant in Seattle" if one is to believe the signage. At least one other RI'er is has been in the place and just recently.
This evening the tiny venue was overrun with Dave's devotees and we all had a great time. I am told that the television show "Ghost Hunters" of SyFy channel (formerly SciFi) will be filming in Dave's Cave tomorrow, and may very well feature a cameo of chef friend Joel, or perhaps John W. I'll get the details and post them here.
We've already been treated to a cameo of one IRL Saloon favorite on the Food Channel when Meat & Potatoes did a spot on Tat's Deli, a block or so from the Saloon.
Apparently TV producers like the Square. Cheers everyone!
game time ... T-5 minutes ... not liking Van's chances of pulling out a comeback but trying to remain optimistic ... ominous looking rainlike clouds squatting over hogtown have driven us off the first plan which was to watch with a gang on a patio supplied with a steady flow of libations ... can we switch the game on in here, barkeep?
molson canadian ... and one for you?
