East Berlin, 1968: The Politbüro has decided that the People's Army needs a "friendlier" image.

The GDR's state-owned TV station obliges:

All soldiers everywhere should be obliged to start the day with this dance.

Right now I'm working my way downstage and dancing to the amazing work of a true triple threat, Donna Mckechnie in Music and the Mirror

Looks may be deceiving but the number itself is very exhausting. Donna's dance style reminds me of my childhood tap and jazz teacher/idol so it brings back so many memories of her when I watch it:

I spent about 2 hours looking up different youtube videos of "A Chorus Line" after viewing the recent documentary, Every Little Step. It follows the revival auditions (over 3,000 people showed up!). It also detailed the show's inception and really captured the heart and soul of Michael Bennett's genius masterpiece. So if you loved "A Chorus Line", I highly recommend it!

I've enjoyed this thread as I've enjoyed reading the RI forum for years now! Keep dancing everybody!

I will "shuffle off to buffalo" now and exit stage left....Goodnight.

Yes, let’s allow the epic pwnage of Bobby-hippity-hop-Van-sequences stand as I catch my breath, waving a friendly hand high in the air with accolades for AmyRose’s aspirations!

On edit: thanks to barracuda for the Funny Church clip above that jump started my brain for remembering the jump days with friends!

Great thread, but the hokey-pokey is really what it's all about.

Really? V. cool, Alaya.

I have to admit that while I am not dancing this right now...

...I was watching Bob Fosse dancing it in the above video mere moments ago.

And it does make a certain amount of sense that it made as great an impression on Michael Jackson as it apparently did, doesn't it?

Well. I stumbled on it while looking for another Fosse number. And while I do like to think I would have noticed the swiped moves homage on my own, I have to admit that I didn't get the chance to find out, given how many YouTubers were there ahead of me.

So you're too kind, darling.

Although I can still take credit for finding it interesting that he identified with the snake rather than the Little Prince, I guess.
