After reading the circumcision thread, I'm installing a brand new foreskin.

They're not essential, but still fun to have. Like spoilers on a car - or a weather vane on the roof of your house. No one really cares if you've got one or not - or, at least, no one should - but I like having it anyway. I'd guess, since the circumcision thread seems to be causing much angst, there is more to the issue than I'm aware of (as usual).

The best thing about having a foreskin is that you have no motive whatsoever to start reading the circumcision thread in the first place.

Champions Online Free for All.

It's free!

I told you I wanted to be a superhero.

You should see me lay the smack down. In a virtual way, of course, you know I abhor violence and conflict of all kinds. Except in computer games.

I have abandoned Ubuntu for Slackware now, and Unity/Gnome for Ratpoison as my window manager. And currently I'm using SeaMonkey rather than Firefox as my browser. Which is really the only think I use my GUI for.

A picture of my desktop:

A bit too much eye candy for me, but still.

I am intending to install OpenBSD. Linus Torvalds has called users thereof "masturbating monkeys", so I thought I'd give it a go.

Warzone 2100. An open source RTS game, a bit like Command and Conquer.

Also, typing this on Linux Mint, with Gnome 3. No worse than Unity, in fact rather similar, but no reason why you should use it instead of Gnome 2. If the windows aren't wobbly, why bother having them?

I'm about to install Mint once I acquire a new external HD to back up and I just got Skyrim the other day for my b-day. All I can say is what an incredible time sink. I can't believe how vast the game is. Actually I can, as I have played several other Bethesda titles. Skyrim just seems bigger. I'd recommend it to everyone, but then nobody would be posting at RI.

...

I don't have time to play skyrim.

On edit: I don't have time to play any games really. I'd rather read or do some exercise probably.

Elfis? You know you are my hero because you worked at Origin don't you?

I'm not fond of open-world games. I like to be able to win or lose.

I've been using Mint 12, although I'm still mostly using Slackware with Ratpoison. Gnome 3 is still castly inferior to Gnome 2, in terms of stablility, customisability and pretty much everything else. MATE is alright, and also offers the chance to use compiz. For some reason I can't get Conky to show on Gnome-shell.

I don't know if what I'm playing is post-worthy for this thread, I just play old arcade games right now. Although I did see you guys talking about classic consoles somewhere back there, so I guess this is the place. I did so love Ultima IV as well.

Playing Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr in emulation set to infinite lives tonight, so I can practice my bottom hammer on the barrel boards and work on timing the springs in the elevator stages on DK, and the spark and springboard stages in Junior.

I don't like junior, but it will be in the battle of the arcades tournament in the fall, and I can't let the team down. The world record holder on DK is on my team along with world record holders on some of the other classics, so I have plenty of incentive to improve. I'm not bad, can get around 250k on DK. Working on it. I don't have any records, but I'm pretty decent at any game you put in front of me, with a little practice. I actually rank higher in the overall standings than some of the record holders. Some people have a knack for one or two games, and are just alright on the rest. And some of the guys on the team are amazing at every game. I'm above average, but still have a ways to go. But it's a wonderful bunch of people and we're all good friends getting together to have a great time. This is my second year competing in the arcade game contests.

I was scheduled to start a Qbert marathon yesterday, I would've been about 40 hours into it right now. I had to cancel this one, though. Life getting in the way at the moment. To be honest, I'm a bit relieved. I was spreading myself too thin. Trying for the elusive 72 hour game, I played three games that went over 50 hours last year. I need to rest this year, build up my energy reserves. Make a go at it again some time in the future.

Playing a cute game called Pengo recently. Fun classic puzzle game.

Last week was the 4th Annual Crap Tournament! Some of the worst video arcade games you've ever seen. Every year is different, there are so may crap games. This year there were 13 games, you had to play all of them to qualify, and stream your game play. It's probably the most funnest thing ever in the world. For example, there's a game called Pig Newton. While collecting eggs, Pig Newton climbs in a tree dropping apples on the wolves heads, to stop them from chopping the tree down and pig napping him, of course. Pig Newton. I came in 5th in the crap tournament. I am very proud of this.

At Barcade my goto games at the moment are Centipede, a driving game called Outrun, an old western themed gun game called Cheyenne, Robotron and Zoo Keeper. I haven't been there for the past week or two, I'm itching to get over there. Screw magic mushrooms, man. Beer and arcade games is so much better.

So that's what I'm currently playing.

Last week I broke the record for longest video arcade game marathon, playing the game Q*Bert at my friend Richie Knucklez' arcade in NJ. I played for almost 85 hours.

During Jimmy Kimmel's monologue last night, he said "it's nice to see someone accomplish something, while simultaneously accomplishing nothing at all."

I like that. Sounds very zen.

Knucklez notes that if you stare at the Q*bert game for awhile, the image tends to reverse like artwork by M.C. Escher, but Leutz managed to play through it.

does Mr. Knucklez have that game called "Tempest"?

For the arcade freaks here, Sine Mora is highly recommended. It feels like a classic side-scrolling schmup, and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Eve Online is also great. Only mmo I know of where false-flag ops are a viable game tactic.

Yes, Richie Knucklez has a Tempest. Richie has hundreds of games, though he only keeps a few dozen at the arcade at any one time. If you were thinking of going over there, you could call ahead and ask, and chances are Richie would have the game there for you when you arrived, in the most perfect condition you've ever seen a Tempest machine in. That's the kind of guy Richie Knucklez is.
