What web host is best?

I need to find a new host for a website I manage -- it's a pretty small site, very basic. I am being charged 15 dollars per month for the dot org, plus an extra 5 for the dot com version of the URL by the jerk who designed the site for the previous owner who is computer illiterate.

I plan to get my own host so I can get access to the damn site and make changes to it. This guy is just adding it to his own account at Dreamhost, which I found out charges only 8.95 per month for unlmited space and URLs.

What I need is a site that's cheap, reliable, and lets me pay by the quarter or month.

Server farms proliferate. Get yourself unlimited etc., etc., as well (including add on or parked domains like your .com) on linux for around 6 bucks a months or less. Google will do ya for finding one, or pm if you want suggestions.

Dreamhost is designer friendly and is a bit more expensive, but If you want to pay by the month the price goes up regardless. Whatever the case, as you know, $20 a month is well above the going rate.

I used to use lunar pages, which isn't too bad but their customer support sucks.

Now I'm with Host Gator and have a reseller account. They are a touch more expensive but service is tip top.

My wife and I both use Laughing Squid.

Small sites would be $8 or $11 per month.
