Keep in mind that cellphone photos can contain GPS data, in case you're not keen on revealing your exact location. (An archaic concern in the 21st century, I know.)

You can use this online tool to view the data embedded in your photo.

I live at the foothills of the Cascade mountains and it's been a lifelong 'side project' for me to explore them. A couple of weeks ago I went backpacking here!:

We camped at the bottom of this meadow; I think that tiny light spot by the trees is our tent.

Peeking over the ridge looking east to the Pasayten Wilderness:

This is the "real world" to me in some way. It's a 9½ mile hike to get here.

A small herd of elk visited us late one night, nudging our tent and nibbling on the rain fly cords.

I'm going again next week, probably to some little hidden alpine lake for a few days (watch out, trout!).

Thanks Mary, Nordic.

Elvis, those are beautiful. I have not made it up into the mountains this summer which is a shame.

Here are some pics I took from a watertaxi ride this weekend.

The watertaxi runs between downtown and the West Seattle neighborhood.

This is the first time I've seen seals in Elliot Bay. We could hear them before the boat left the pier.

These are the giants that unload all of the shipping containers from China.

This is a shot from our bay side park, Myrtle Edwards. Those are the Olympic Mountains in the background. If you stand on top of certain hills in the city you can face east and see the Cascades, face West to see the Olympics, and then south to see Mount Rainier.

Wow, beautiful stuff, both Elvis and Willow. Elvis, I'm wildly jealous, that's my idea of heaven right there. I miss heaven.

I really feel like I live in a shithole after seeing all these beautiful pictures. :)

Hmm. There's something odd about Elvis being in the Cascade mountains in the year 2044, but I'm not sure what it is.

The snapshots are frame grabs from a tiny 2" video camcorder I took along; I could never get the date/time stamp to go away but at least somehow changed it to "2044" which is kind of funny.

Washington has an amazing range of geography---ocean shore, forest, mountains, plains, desert. A broad swath of overlapping National Forests, National Parks and official Wilderness Areas runs through most of the middle of the state north to south. I worry about encroachment in the protected areas but land set-asides slowly increase as more become available.

Haha this was my first thought of what to post on this thread, as i used to have a picture of one of these "cloudholes" taken in my neighborhood.

I'm currently between cameras, so please excuse the quality:
