Guilty pleasures

Postby Handsome B. Wonderful » Mon Jul 16, 2012 12:10 pm

Is there a guilty pleasure thread? As pertains to entertainment? I searched and found none.

Anyway, it can be any thing like a show, song, movie, etc.

Off the top of my head, I have to admit that I like the movie Bring It On. I don't know why. I have it on DVD and I actually enjoy watching this movie. I guess it gets a kind of a 'B' rating from most critics. I think most people who know me would react with "You actually like that movie?"

Not to mention I have a crush on both Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Dushku.

Another one is Deep Blue Sea. Yes it's stupid, but for some reason I can watch it over and over again. And I have, despite its cheesiness and knowing how it turns out. It also has some nice eye candy when Saffron Burrows undresses to kill that shark with electricity. (Did I just admit to that? I'm such a pig! :moresarcasm )

What's your guilty pleasure? Bring it on guys! (No pun intended)
Born we are the same, within the silence, indifference be Thy name
Torn we walk alone, we sleep in silent shades
The grandeur fades, the meaning never known- 'Born' Nevermore

So many guilty pleasures I have. My whole existence is guilt ridden. Where to start?

When I was younger I liked to loll around in the ersatz halcyon light of The Waltons and imagine myself as John boy.

Chopped on Food Network. I watch it every time it's on even if I have seen it before. That and Hell's Kitchen. There I admitted it. I feel better.

Silver Age comics. There's always that. Especially now I'm passing them on to the next generation; hopefully skipping all of the hip, dark superhero iterations.

My new one is Instagram.

Then there's vanilla yogurt with agave sweetener and raw nuts.

I wish I had more ...... Sometimes I wish I could still drink. The other day I actually had some beer but it made me feel kind of sick. Bummer.

...

I gave up so many.

Er.

Shootin' the breeze wid youse guys is my only one left.

Except I don't feel guilty about that.

I feel guilty when I don't do it.

I think I have a responsibility, you see.

Oh, and meditation.

That's definitely a guilty pleasure.

As my dear friend Jiddu told me once, "If you knew what meditation was, you would want to do it all the time."

I would love to reread more silver age comics though.

I guess nostalgia is a guilty pleasure too.

Here's one: watching unnarrated videos shot while driving through cities I'm completely unfamiliar with, and will probably never visit. Though I usually end up wishing I could.

I find this captivating:

Listening to shortwave preachers and watching religious television.

Okay, who's gonna be the first to admit to porn?

I almost did but chose not to since what I view is merely very erotic art.

No interest in porn, but Reddit... is pretty much pornographic.
