I found this discussion fascinating, the attitudes, the postures, the positions. My favourite part: "animals can't have fun" just wait and see, this was before youtube, but not before human observation so even the brightest and best minds can be strangely seduced by the power of ideas which tickle a certain prejudice.

WOW to BOTH. I don't have six hours today! I can't believe either happened with these lineups. Especially the first is getting my attention over the days to come. (Missing there for the perfecto is Donna Haraway. Or, of course, any woman in either round. Who would be good for the second? Rigoberta Menchu? Naomi Klein would have been too young...)

It blew my mind seeing that part of the discussion. It makes me sad that these distinguished men should at the same time have been so oddly sheltered as to profess that animals don't seem to enjoy themselves. Group think? If the best amongst us consider other life forms little more than empty automata, surely that points toward the root of our environmental problems.
