None of it bothers me any, of course I am not a left wing radical. I am quite conservative, meaning I favor small govt and fiscal responsibility. Not to be confused with these neo con big government liberals who have hijacked the republican party. That said, when I read the article I see someone asking politicans to be accountable to people, not special interests and corporations. That is why I posted it, but then again it slipped my mind that this is largely a leftist board and therefore one must tiptoe around the issues and be certain they say nothing to offend anyone.

In spite of my hard line on this issue, I DO understand what you are saying. There is no doubt that women have been treated unfairly when it comes to holding positions of power and in that respect Pelosi rising to the position of house speaker is a very good development for the cause of women's rights. However, it seems to me as if you are willing to give her a free pass because of this, and allow the cause of women's rights to trump the greater cause of good and just government of for and by the people. I will not give her a free pass, if she doesnt do what she was elected to do, namely, serve the people, she should be thrown out on her ass like anyone else.

Oh, come ON, Masonic, I think I have made my position clear about Pelosi. I think she is on the road to hypocritter-of-the-year, and is dragging the party with her. But, I found the tone of the article offensive. If that's what the writer intended to do, then fine, but he makes me start to feel a sisterhood with Pelosi. Is that his intention?

Any form of fundamentalism is to be resisted, including fundamentalist PC (we get this in the UK, although its scale is blown out of all proportion by the British Press because the OUTRAGE it causes sells newspapers $$$)

The colourful imagery aside (and hey perhaps you're right maybe the piece would have opened by threatening a male politician with "then you need to stop taking it up the shitter" but that wouldn't have been any less crass IMHO) -- the imagery aside it seems a poorly written piece generally, all bluster, clunky prose and jaw-dropping nievety.

The reality is that the voting masses come way down on the list of priorities that any elite politico might have. We just don't have their patronage, except when it's voting time... Politics in that stratosphere serves to fascilitate big business, international diplomacy, finance etc, and of course cattle management.

Any partisan aspect of US politics really does seem to be for show... to keep up the charade whilst plots unfold, etc. Same here in the UK no doubt.

Better to forget about any impassioned pleas to any politician, of any flavour, and set about helping yourself instead.

Let me use my non PC free speech to express my personal opinion that MP is a sexist, pompus asshole who helps no one, least of all himself with his antagonistic hyperbole.

Politicians, male and female, need to stop WHORING THEMSELVES and do the work of THE PEOPLE.

Condi Rice, for all her short comings, dresses EVERY day like a respectable woman. All of the MEN on Capitol Hill dress in suits and ties. Hillary dresses like a respectable person. I don't think a politician should be able to use their bodies anymore than their wallets to get their way!

In summation, I agree with the original post. This crass lady has the nerve to get up, and flying in the face of reason, TOLD the American people what they want, and what is best for them.....I would say thanks mom, but then again I never saw mom dress so provactively while trying to tell me what is just and right. She has dictated to the American people like she knows best, and has done exactly the opposite of what her constituents wanted her to do and lied about what she would do when and if she attained this seat. She is a 2 bit whore with money. The only way women like her know how to achieve anything is by their looks and that is a disgrace and a sad state of affairs when this mentality hits Politics. We already have more than enough Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears. Anyone who says this is not true needs to review her record.

I never intended for it to become anything other than a post explaining the things that the american people would like to see their newly elected democrats do: investigate the crimes of the bush adminstration, 9-11, etc. I never turned this into anything even remotely sexist. Lets be honest here. I will absolutely admit I can be a pompous and sarcastic jerk, but THAT part of it is mostly in fun. Personal attacks are not my style, but I will say what I think.
