Elephant in the room time...
A poll was put up, people voted, a fight happened, some people say there was a Canadian_Watcher sockpuppet, which others deny was a sockpuppet - regardless way the poll thread ended in being locked.
I would like to ask the Mods two things
a) To clarify the situation re was there actually a sockpuppet operating
b) Ask if a final decision on Canadian-Watchers status has been made and if so what it is.

Good God!
Make an announcement in this thread that anyone interested in discussing the questions posed by searcher or the banning of cw in general can feel free to pm the mods and then LOCK this fucking thread.

A non-trivial point: rollingstone was not banned for being a socketpuppet but for spitefully trying to out the real life identity of an RI member.
As for the bigger question: The ban stands, for the same reasons it happened in the first place.

Thank you for that clear reply, WR
(and I am fine for this thread to be locked now - I just wanted clarity)

Wombaticus didn't really answer question (a), though, did he? His reply was a model of ambiguity because he likely doesn't know the answer.Searcher08 wrote:Thank you for that clear reply, WR

Re: Canadian_Watcher Ban
I do not. The new member in question posted his/her first two RI posts from an IP address that was very close to one that CW posted from 97 times. I'm perfectly willing to believe they were neighbors, and I don't think a single socketpuppet invalidates the poll.

It was illuminating to see how rollingstone behaved - particularly in regards their (bannable) attack on another user that had been victim of a personal vendetta from C_w in the past.
