sunny, could you please do something about nomo and orz? Issue a warning or something, please. It is getting really old now.

I suppose the one line snarky responses can get on peoples' nerves, but I have no idea what to do about it. I told Mac I would bring it up with you, and in the meantime he should just ignore them entirely.

One person's trolling is another's talking plainly. Orz can be snarky, but he never seems to be deliberately vicious. Ditto nomo, who is (rightly, I think) reacting to the overload of "Zionazi" stuff.

Mac has certainly unloaded his/her fair share of nastiness, so looks to me like pot>kettle>black, but I have avoided that particular thread of late.

After Mac said in the thread that he'd alerted, I posted that I didn't see any trolling, just disagreement. Nomo and Orz get under some members' skins, but they take a lot more then they dish out.

I think some people just won't be happy until they find an echo chamber. And I hope that never happens.

Thanks for your imput, chig, in the Howard Stern thread.

I reread it and I don't see how Mac has a good case for nomo's trolling. I think he, and a few others, simply see red when they see his and orz's names. (In this thread, even before they see them.) The obscenities and vulgar insults all seem to be coming from Mac and Isachar.

Am I missing something? Nomo and Orz are sharp and can get under the skin, but they also respond to moderation and haven't been the ones making a vendetta of this.

I totally forgot about thIs thread here. Sorry I got so pissy there, but I am so tired of that group dragging down threads into flame wars with no substance, just ad hominem attacks, completely ruining them. That thread is a carry-over of hostilitites from other threads. It is a bit of a two-way street--nomo and orz aren't total victims by any means, are rather good at their drive-by snipes, actually--and generally I just ignore it. But it's gotten to the point that it has to quit, and Mac doesn't know when to quit. And that may be aq part of the problem: Nomo and orz know just where to draw the line and get by with it, but their opposition doesn't, so nomo and orz end up looking like teachers pets.

BTW, here is Searcher's post that I deleted, in which Searcher first quotes nomo:

nomo wrote:I've never said that any and all criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic.

Just that anti-Semitism is often cloaked in criticism of Israel.

It's not my fault that you're too dense to grasp what I'm saying. And here I was thinking I'm doing you a favor by keeping my responses short.

What about my "Arab-hating racism"? Any luck finding examples of that?

You don't do me any favours, racist.
Accusations of anti-Semitism are sometimes (but not always) just guises for Arab hating and in your case, it fits the bill to a "T" as you have demonstrated in your previous threads.

And lose the "Holier Than Thou" attitude, eh? It's reaaaaally tired.

I spanked Searcher and not Mac(who actually deserved the harder smack) because Mac expected me to delete his, so I counter-intuitively left it for the board to see.

So true. It would be easier if everyone were equally assholish!

BTW, the last few days I've seen some very positive contributions from searcher towards reducing board tension. This morning I pm'd my appreciation for this:

I'm impressed! Not many could play the role of peacemaker as acceptably by the two sides as he did.

Ok. I admit that Mac can be high-strung, but I'm going to have to agree with him that nomo, orz, and to a lesser degree our "new" friend unaltered come into I/P threads with the express intention of trashing them. And they do. Every single time. I think Mac should ignore them but it IS pretty hard to do, especially when he, and me and Alice and others, are getting called reprehensible names. If words are important, then calling people anti-semitic without being required to cite specific instances of it is also important.

If we are anti-semitic then we should be banned-that, or the accusers should be required to shut the fuck up and actually discuss the topic at hand without indiscrimanately slinging attacks.

JMO.

Absolutely.

I think generally nomo/orz are better at observing the letter of the rules than Mac/Isachar, but I think that means we mean better rules.

Spouting anti-semitic trash is a banning offense and rightly so. If members have real concerns that is taking place it should be taken seriously. Ergo, accusations of anti-semitism should not be made lightly. If they are and no one is banned we look like a bunch of assholes-either for harboring anti-semites OR for allowing baseless accusations to stand. It's not good either way.
