Misogyny thread

Postby Peregrine » Wed Apr 27, 2011 11:53 am

Have I done something wrong here in this thread? I've piped up a couple of times in that thread nicely asking the namecalling to stop & I'm getting pounced on. What gives?

seriously, I wonder what the heck I'm doing here. I have to walk away from this for a bit & get some perspective, I'm thoroughly frustrated. Jeff, I like being a mod here but wonder if I am lacking the time for it, I feel like I'm not on top of things at the moment. I'll be back a little later today but I'm frustrated to the point of tears, man. Not just this but other outside contributing factors.

Peregrine, it's not you. Every single person who raises their head in that thread gets jumped on. It seems to me that canadian_watcher has a penchant for hasty interpretations of the comments there, along with a quickness to blame that seems to be working against her cause even though her heart is in the right place. There's so much misplaced anger, it becomes impossible to moderate, especially when folks like brekin come in specifically to aggravate the situation.

Oh well. It takes a grain of sand to make a pearl, I guess.

I've not gone back in there since commenting on wakeup's dumb comment about removing men from the equation. I completely understand C_w's frustration with both him & brekin. I find it's a waste of my energy trying to reason with blokes that don't get it. Oy. gonna peek back in....

As per your report on page 77 of the thread, not sure what the deal was there, either. Just quietly following & will pipe up when I see something come up. That is all. :)

For everyone's information, I've had it with brekin, and am on the verge of suspending him for trolling the thread. Finished. Don't care.

I hear ya. I'm a little late in the game because I'm hanging out with my kid & taking lasagna I made for dinner to friends for lunch. Yum. I was more than a little emotional yesterday & had to step away. I totally feel both C_w & Willow's anger at this but I find I can't waste my energies on fellas who can't be bothered. And nice one on you there, mister fish, on calling him out. You worded things better than I would have. :)

Okay, after the double post there, I gave brekin a week. Didn't really want to, but I don't see any way else to stem the tide of bullshit.

I suspended praeclarus late last night pending approval. I'm not committed to any specific time period, but I find it hard to believe he's posting here in good faith.

The Mis. thread was trolled to death last night by praeclarus and seemslikeadream. I came close to locking it, honestly.

Thanks for that. Praeclarus just sat out for a week, so anyone who comes back from a suspension and promptly trolls has earned a permanent vacation.

Just thought I'd go and jinx the whole thing up by noticing that today the Misogyny thread passed to PAGE TWO of General Discussion for the first time since March.

The last thing the misogyny thread needs is a large dancing banana.
