~ Om Mani Padme Hum ~
The Dalai Lama has given a synopsis of its meaning as "Thus the six syllables, Om Mani Padme Hum, mean that in dependence on the practice which is an indivisible union of method and wisdom, you can transform your impure body, speech and mind into the pure body, speech, and mind of a Buddha."
Humble sentient beings, tormented
by sufferings without cease,
Completely suppressed by seemingly endless
and terribly intense, negative deeds,
May all their fears from unbearable war, famine,
and disease be pacified,
To freely breathe an ocean of happiness and well-being.
Those unrelentingly cruel ones, objects of compassion,
Maddened by delusion's evils,
wantonly destroy themselves and others;
May they achieve the eye of wisdom,
knowing what must be done and undone,
And abide in the glory of friendship and love.

hey burnt hows it going.
I remember coming across the sanscrit for om mane padme hum, well what Labsang Rampa (that pommy mechanic) claimed was sanscrit, or derived from it.
I showed it to my dad, who reads the language and speaks it.
He stumbled around many definitions including the father mother and son and daughter, as well as what you refer to re Buddha's wisdom.
I was thinking about the trigrams that make up I ching when he mentioned them as well as other stuff...
It seemed it was an important founation of the universe the familial relationship...

METTA SUTTA - The Buddha's Words on Loving-Kindness
This is what should be done
By one who is skilled in goodness,
And who knows the path of peace:
Let them be able and upright,
Straightforward and gentle in speech.
Humble and not conceited,
Contented and easily satisfied.
Unburdened with duties and frugal in their ways.
Peaceful and calm, and wise and skillful,
Not proud and demanding in nature.
Let them not do the slightest thing
That the wise would later reprove.
Wishing: In gladness and in saftey,
May all beings be at ease.
Whatever living beings there may be;
Whether they are weak or strong, omitting none,
The great or the mighty, medium, short or small,
The seen and the unseen,
Those living near and far away,
Those born and to-be-born,
May all beings be at ease!
Let none deceive another,
Or despise any being in any state.
Let none through anger or ill-will
Wish harm upon another.
Even as a mother protects with her life
Her child, her only child,
So with a boundless heart
Should one cherish all living beings:
Radiating kindness over the entire world
Spreading upwards to the skies,
And downwards to the depths;
Outwards and unbounded,
Freed from hatred and ill-will.
Whether standing or walking, seated or lying down
Free from drowsiness,
One should sustain this recollection.
This is said to be the sublime abiding.
By not holding to fixed views,
The pure-hearted one, having clarity of vision,
Being freed from all sense desires,
Is not born again into this world.

Hello Joe Hillshoist, nice interpretation, and in that vein (this body has many veins) the prayer was offered to the discussion board. A little too late to save dragon though, harrumph. as i tire to argue with no positive outcome possible, I am reminded:
“Look at every path closely and deliberately, then ask ourselves this crucial question: Does this path have a heart? If it does, then the path is good. If it doesn't, it is of no use.”

Things have been getting out of hand.
Dragon has been using this forum to solicit business I cannot endorse and advocate action that can be construed as violence. I've deleted his account.
. I have asked some specific questions of the moderators regarding this, to no avail. No soup for you!
