Paul Krugman on the appointment of Bernanke to the Fed:

"Has President Bush been so damaged by scandals and public disapproval that he has no choice but to appoint qualified, principled people to important positions?"

If that doesn't speak volumes about how seriously fucked up this nation is....

...early in the movie, I have "a funny sense of funny."

I did laugh, but it was a, how you say, rueful laugh.

If I didn't laugh at certain things, I would go running through the streets swinging a machete. Which is probably the sane response, but would only get me three hots and a cot in the local pokey. Not being Martha Stewart, I wouldn't get Camp Cupcake or "house arrest" in a mansion. Just a flat musty cot and a room-mate named Grace with a crewcut.
