I was a little disheartened to learn that Stanton Friedman, perennial UFO researcher passed away on May 13th of this year. Despite many who foster the belief that 'nuts & bolts' UFO's do not exist, I support Stanton's research. I don't feel that Stanton followed a certain agenda, but sought the truth regarding this ongoing phenomenon.

Yes, you can agree or disagree with Stan’s opinion about UFOs, but what you *cannot* do is overlook the man’s legacy: the countless times he gave his presentation “UFOs are Real” at college auditoriums and public townhalls all across America. The constant reminding to the public that they have a right in demanding to their appointed leaders more transparency in what they may or may not know about this confounding mystery. His championing of the UFO cause against debunkers who take the “it can’t be therefore it isn’t” attitude instead of taking a closer look at the actual data. He used the TV spotlight not for vanity or financial gain, but as a tool to bring awareness to the public and seek more information from potential witnesses.
Despite the fact I don’t happen to agree with his interpretations with regards to the nature of the phenomenon, overall I see in Stanton Friedman a humanist who above all hoped that mankind would one day rise above the childish pettiness which keeps ‘tribal warfare’ as the main activity of our species, and saw in UFOs a beacon that could shake us up of our collective stupor, and inspire us to seek a better future outside our planetary cradle. The same nuclear energy that could wipe us out of existence could also be used to reach for the stars.
- Daily Grail

Word was the Majestic papers were passed on to Stanton purposely. I know most regard them to be a farce, though it seems strange everyone listed on those papers would be an expected member of such a community. Anyhow, hope you have found some of the answers you were looking for in the great beyond Stanton.

Thanks, this is news to me. I heard many Stanton talks and interviews and I agree, he was the real deal. Likable fellow, too.

Stanton Friedman – Recollections

Lifetime researcher Stanton T. Friedman passed away on May 13, 2019 after over 50 years of writing and lecturing. He was the public face of UFO study for those who knew little about the subject, and a mentor, inspiration, and guru for many inside the sometimes strange world of UFO conventions and gatherings, many of which he headlined. He earned the trust of those on many sides of the issue for his honesty and forthrightness, and was unfailingly thoughtful and polite to all, no matter what disagreements were present.

On February 18 of 2018, I recorded an interview with Friedman in an unused room at the International UFO Congress. In this conversation, he recalled his childhood and love of the Dodgers and Jackie Robinson, and his college and early career as a nuclear physicist for a variety of aerospace companies. He even described a job for McDonnell Douglas which he said assigned him to “figure out how flying saucers worked” but was unfortunately cancelled for budgetary reasons.

Friedman explained his philosophy that “technological progress comes from doing things differently in an unpredictable way,” and ended the interview with his observation that since (as he believed) extraterrestrial civilizations have been able to survive any growing pains to reach us, this strengthened his hope that the human race can do the same.
