I don't think O'Connor was a witness. I think he was being interviewed as a resident 'expert' on BBC tv. Correct me if I am wrong there.

But what is this with the trains and the doors?
People were 'banging on the doors', says one witness quoted above. So, again they can't get off - yet Mr Victim manages to get on?

And why was the train just standing there apparently waiting for him and the armed guys to board it?

Then suddenly, everyone apparently CAN get out and they are all running away. So, did the doors suddenly release or what? I really think this needs to be looked into if possible.

What was it with those doors?

Let's try and find as much of the original testimony as possible and store copies here - because I think it's likely that some of it will vanish. And let's make copies of everything on our own machines in case of accidents. This could turn out to be a useful database.

Ellie

Tube Doors

Postby antiaristo » Fri Jul 22, 2005 12:22 pm

rain,
Tube trains have two operators. The driver at the front and the guard at the rear. The guard operates the doors. The passengers cannot operate the doors. They used to provide little hammers in case it was necessary to break the glass to escape. But apparently passengers found an alternative use for them and they were removed.

Psy-op

Postby Peachtree Pam » Fri Jul 22, 2005 12:43 pm

Sokolova and Dreamsend make an excellent point: it was as if there had to be an audience to witness the execution. Any psy-op has as its objective to strike fear and horror into the psyche of the public that you want to submit to police rule...if there is no audience, the psy-op is not successful.

9/11 was a huge psy-op, with a large audience both in NY and throughout US, with relentless repetition of the images for weeks afterwards...at least you have been spared actual filming of the shooting.

Ignorant American

Dreams End,
EVERYBODY is ignorant.
The dividing line is between those that know it about themselves, and those who do not.
In my own experience some of the best questions sometimes come from those with the least familiarity. You're right, Pam.
Compare the way the public are being brought forward here, compared to Canary Wharf.
I think they are under pressure and have speeded-up the programme.

And don't it just fit with what Gavin Esler said on Newsnight???????

This actually made it on early morning (4am)
American radio (astounding) where it was
described as an
incidenton the London Tube resulting
in the death of an unidentified man by armed
police. Don't do tv (in fact, don't have one)
so who knows what's there. Later reports
said only that he was shot five times & included
the description: he looked like a cornered fox.
Armed plainclothes govt. sanctioned
hitmen in London? Am I hearing this correctly?
And that shoot to kill for a suspect is
official policy? Lordy, lordy. A Clockwork Orange?

...

Seems to me that the police, or whatever they are called in London, would want to apprehend terrorists if at all possible, in order to interrogate them and get more information - unless they have their finger on the detonator. Doesn't sound like this running man had his finger on anything. And, if the bomb is set with a timer, and ready to go, shooting the carrier won't stop the bomb - so why shoot and kill someone who has been completely subdued? What could he have to say that needed to be silenced?

Are people questioning this story in London (besides the few of you who have found your way to this board), or have they been so thoroughly terrorized that they accept what they are being fed by the media?

There is virtually no serious questioning of the official line in any of the media here in the UK. But then there never was very much, and what little there was has dissolved since 911.

It's almost comical, this 'normalising of the unthinkable'. The 'shoot to kill' policy was announced on the BBC by one dull little guy behind a desk saying to a spokesman something like, "so is it policy at the moment for the police to shoot to kill?" And the spokesman said something like "well yes it is really". And that was it! Most people, who take their opinions pre-cooked and shrinkwrapped from the media will probably not even notice that it's just been publicly acknowledged we are living in a police state.

Ellie

Sokolova said

" I heard one eye witness on BBC News 24 describe something very curious.

She said the train had been delayed at Stockwell station for some time and she 'knew something could be wrong'. She also said she 'couldn't get off' the train.

Then the doors opened, the victim ran on and was instantly followed by plain clothes guys with guns. The man was then shot."

If that eye witness is accurate then this makes no sense
Why would the guard at the rear of the train who operates the doors open them for this man in the heavy coat being hotly persued by 5 plain clothes?

It makes no sense unless it was staged for public consumption.

Edited by: LibertyorDeath at: 7/22/05 2:34 pm

how to use your coconuts

Postby rain » Fri Jul 22, 2005 4:44 pm

actually it probably makes perfect sense.
and my mistake - temporary lack of coffee - Mark Whitby, I believe, reported three P,C.G.'s, not five. five shots.
see hanshan's note on how it was reported in the u.s..
similarly in the u.k.. very dead-pan. end of discussion. any dissenting views will most likely evaporate into thin air. and in the blink of an eye, there you have. draconian central.
my most heartfelt sympathies sokolova.
