Taurus -- Spirit

And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last....

Which is not to say that what Jimmy Page had to bring to it didn't make such a significant difference that it bordered on transformative and all that stuff. But still. He's just an asshole always to have insisted that poor Randy California was claiming credit where none was due, imo. I mean, his band toured as an opening act for Spirit the year "Taurus" came out, for fuck's sake.

Also, there's something about I Got a Line On You that makes me happy every time I hear it.

So I feel that Spirit is owed.

This is how I felt when I first learned what magnificent ripoffs Jimmy had pulled:

Le plus horrible jour de ma vie

And speaking of U2,

George Bush – Sunday Bloody Sunday

How long must we sing this fucking song, anyways?

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

I am very pleased to announce the 4th Annual Radio Dismuke New Year's Eve Broadcast in which Radio Dismuke will help ring in the New Year in all four continental United States time zones by spinning a variety of 78 rpm recordings from the 1920s through the early 1940s in a special live broadcast.

Joining me in the Radio Dismuke studio in Fort Worth, Texas will be special guests Eddie The Collector, Matt From College Station and Jerry From Dallas who will be bringing along lots of fun and interesting selections from their large collections of vintage 78 rpm records.
