Oh we’re so disarming darling, everything we did believe is diving diving diving diving off the balcony Tired and wired we ruin too easy sleep in our clothes and wait for winter to leave
Stay out super late tonight picking apples, making pies put a little something in our lemonade and take it with us we’re half-awake in a fake empire we’re half-awake in a fake empire
Tiptoe through our shiny city with our diamond slippers on do our gay ballet on ice bluebirds on our shoulders we’re half-awake in a fake empire we’re half-awake in a fake empire
Turn the light out say goodnight no thinking for a little while lets not try to figure out everything at once It’s hard to keep track of you falling through the sky we’re half-awake in a fake empire we’re half-awake in a fake empire
"Teach them to think. Work against the government." – Wittgenstein.
I've always loved that last one exclusively for the moment when he hits that note and lets it float far, far way far away to some plane of being where it just no longer means anything at all to him that he was never told about the sorrow. My heart just breaks for Al every time and always has.
But then he mends it for me. So it's all good.
Though honestly, it's very cruel of those Night Music hosts in the Jack Bruce/Joe Walsh video even to speak with him, imo. Can't they see he's in agony? And that it drove him completely and totally out of his mind years and years ago?
