Hey, do you :) know Scott Walker?
I didn't, but everyone :whisper:probably already knew that.

yeah, I posted some to the scott walker thread (or was it the madison thread?) :wink

anyway, for some reason Scott W. always reminds me of Ian Whitcomb (who apparently nevr covered Port)

bowie also did a good cover... but here's some others...

oh lord, I see the band of the letter U and the numeral two have also done a cover  :shudder

and now for a short Ian Whitcomb sampler...
sort fo a british rolf harris without the didgeridoo. A "Good Time Band" type thing...

Two From the Vault
Grateful Dead 8-23-1968 Shrine Auditorium

Disc two
track two
New Potato Caboose

mark: 3:30 - 4:40
focus: bass guitar, Phil Lesh

In the last week I have listened to a loop of this which accounts for repeats somewhere near 1,000 and it blows me away every time, reminding me that the world is not completely chock full of idiotic, bloodsucking assholes.
not live version of that moment in time below but still pretty cool:

" Morals is the butter for those who have no bread."

who can you trust?

Postby IanEye » Thu Apr 28, 2011 4:29 pm

.

_

the last time I got stoned
turning the pages of memory
as if they were a book
I wrote with smoke
in the margins of my life
knowing that the future and the past
are all one
and that the moment now is all we ever have
looking for lovers on the blink rims of our eyes
writing with smoke on the ceilings of our lives
a paisley curtain that never stops moving
a neon sign that never stops blinking
mind expanding into eternity
with us or without us
oh smoke
that we are and were and will become
let me follow your spirals to the light
leaving my body behind
leaving my mind

_

I watched as a ray of pale light
trapped in the tree outside
danced from her mouth
to her breast
like a fly on a flower

when it comes, both of us will know

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.
