All this Tom Cruise stuff seems to get sillier and wierder at the same time. Why does he go around saying this kind of shit to people?

www.lse.co.uk/ShowbizNews...enta_plans

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Dad-to-be Tom Cruise has vowed to eat the placenta of his newborn baby and plans to dine on the umbilical cord too.

The actor's bizarre plans are sure to shock his legions of fans but the Hollywood heavyweight insists he plans to cook the unusual meal after fiancée Katie Holmes gives birth.

The 43 year-old star told America's GQ magazine: "I'm going to eat the placenta. To each his own. While it may be strange and bizarre, it is certainly not illegal and Tom Cruise can do whatever he wants.
--
CyberChrist
http://www.hackerjournal.org
My brain is hung like a horse.

Based on absurd fictional fantasy, scientology is a cynical confidence racket that uses blackmail, physical and mental abuse and murder to fleece its victims of their financial resources. Opposition to this thuggish cult is not an affront to religious freedom but is about the illegality of racketeering.

Pray for Katie's baby!

will he eat it raw or will he sautee it? Perhaps with a sprinkle of parsley and a nice chardonnay?

This isn't surprising or "wrong" if you ask me, but it still makes me gag.

Wasn't there a show not too long ago (maybe British?) that featured a family grilling and eating a family member's placenta; much ensuing controversy and accusations of cannibalism. etc.?
"A crooked stick will cast a crooked shadow."
Edited by: thoughtographer at: 4/18/06 1:58 pm

This media focus is all about portraying Hollywood celebrities as wack-jobs to sneer at in case they get more Jane Fonda-Tim Robbins-Sean Penn-Dixie Chicks-Charlie Sheehan vocal about the White House's high crimes against humanity.

Scientology is a dangerous cult now run by spooks and Cruise is steeped in mind fuck. Poor Katie and child.

Tom was long used to promote alpha male militarism and now he is being recast as nutjob to discredit future dissenters.

A Joke?

This whole business of eating the placenta is now being portrayed as a joke made by TC. Once you get into trying to figure out the motives of a $cientologist you can lose your marbles. Is it a joke? Or is it real?

Same thing goes for the alt.religion.scientology posts by people who are allegedly anti-Scientology. Other people on there say that the "anti' posters are really Scientologists. Who know what to believe? Oh what a tangled web they weave...

"Two more babies...smash 'em together." - L. It would be stupid of Tom or any other man to eat the placenta, just like it would be stupid for him to snarf down a handful of female birth control pills.

I have one friend who ate her placenta, raw mixed in a blender with tabasco and V8. She said it tasted somewhat livery. I've participated in a couple of rituals where the placentas were ritually buried, and the babies were given their first taste of non-mother's milk food, as a way of honoring that first small step of independence and separation from wholly depending on the mother. The placentas had been rinsed and then frozen until the ceremony.

From what I've read over the years, that the cetaceans and pinnipeds can swim away from their placentas instead of eating them gives more credence to the idea that they are eaten to minimize attractiveness to predators. There's an interesting account linked at the Wikipedia article, regarding one woman's account of how she felt eating the placenta was helpful to her.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placentophagy

Just watching his recent interview with Diane Sawyer felt like mental abuse...I'm sorry I got sucked into the whole Mission Impossible 3 hype.

But I kept looking for some sign that the whole Katie Holmes thing is not sad.

But then again, Nicole Kidman got all the choicest roles and a few Oscars after Tom "dumping" her.

Cruise is being set up due to his pharmaceutical opposition

Okay okay, I know he makes it easy to ridicule him. But the idea of eating the placenta is not unique or even that weird IMO.

And the scientology thing is strange --- but religions are strange (boidy of christ, blood of christ - mangia)

It helped a friend of mine when I was younger to overcome stuttering and self consciousness (embarassment)

But i think the ridicule of Cruise is all about his opposition to the pharmaceutical industry.

His opposition to the overprescription of drugs like Prozac and other dangerous drugs has made him a major target of corporate and fascist media.

Maybe his scientology "handlers" use him as a distraction for the corporate powers that be. WTF knows?

I took my kid to see Scary Movie IV (he begged and we like sci fi so the spoofs were not awful for a Saturday matinee) and the attack on Cruise was relentless in a scene with him and Oprah which cloises the film.

He is being protrayed as a whack job for his ideas that corporate medical establishment is endangering us.

People like Rummyt and Cheney and the Bushes with close ties to big RX companies want him ridiculed.

Don't fall for it.

So eating the placenta is weirder than angelina jolie and billy bob's blood. So what?

The purpose is to make his other ideas about how SSRI's are killing people and ruining lives seem noncredible.

I admire his stand on these drugs and the BFEE medical establishment which is killing the planet and the people in numbers much bigger than the Holocaust.
