High Wierdness from Dennis K

Postby marykmusic » Sat Dec 30, 2006 6:39 pm

In keeping with the understanding that "we are what we think", here is the New Year's message I just got (along with thousands of others) from our buddy Dennis Kucinich.

A New Year of Peace, Prosperity, Hope

Dear Friend,

A New Year of Peace, Prosperity, Hope: All possibilities exist prospectively as we look forward to 2007.

Each one of us holds transformational capabilities to engage the world constructively through the images of the future we hold in our mind. Our thoughts have power. The power of intent together with action transforms our lives and our world.

We invite you to join with us on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, wherever you gather with family and friends, to hold fast the intention to create structures of peace in our society by inviting everyone with whom you come into contact to join this intentional effort to make a practical reality our dynamic vision of peace.

The Kucinich Campaign is a race for the Presidency, and much more. It is about helping every person reach his or her own highest potential as citizens of America and the world. It is about empowering ourselves and each other in a joyous realization of our highest aspirations.

Of course peace is possible. Peace is already the practical, overriding existent reality of our lives; it describes our loves, our joys, our dreams and we rely on it for our future. Some would have us buy into war as the fundamental, inevitable perpetual condition of the world. This is a lie which we buy into at our greatest peril. We are called upon to respond with courage and with truth from the wellspring of our humanity.

The world is in a situation of urgency on many levels, but we still have a window of opportunity around which we can rally to enable great transformational changes. The situation in Iraq is salvageable with the right leadership and a change in approach. The damage to our global climate can be repaired, if we are willing to pursue new directions, new technologies and a renewed commitment to individual action to protect our air, our water, our land.

Let us, in this annual celebration of our humanity, call forth the buoyant, expectant energies of the New Year and harness them to quicken the impulse toward positive change. The economic stability of our communities and the physical and spiritual health of our nation depend upon our commitment to practical paths toward renewal. That is the power which stands behind all New Year's resolutions.

Let us resolve, then, to join in a collective effort to create a new world. The Presidency becomes the catalyst for powerful, transformative change, a new American evolution, spiraling upward along paths of clarity, strength, vision, determination and action.

Let us collectively have a bright encounter with the energies of the New Year and make 2007 the year of which future generations will say: "That is when the change began. That is when we began to create with courage a new nation and a new world."

We wish you a joyful New Year!

Dennis and Elizabeth

I like Dennis, I think he is a genuine good guy. The only issue I have with him is that he is openly Socialist and I am not sure Socialism is the answer to the Nation's problems. I would like to see less government, not more.

In the 109th Congress 55 members of Congress are also members of the Democrat Socialists of America. That is down from 58 in the 106th Congress. The socialists in Congress are a minority, but are highly effective because they have easy access to the national media and their followers are well financed and organized.

Two Words:

George Soros. He gives ALOT of money to the DSUSA PAC.

GRANTED things have changed in recent years with Murdoch taking over the media and there now being a clear right wing bais in the MSM. So, yes, I do understand what youre getting at. But Dennis does get A LOT of airtime on FOX and CNN.

None of this is intended as a put down to Dennis. I like Dennis, I think Dennis is a decent guy. I understand Socialism and it has many good points. I am just not sure it is the answer to this nations problems. As I said before, we need LESS government, not MORE.

I share your suspicions of Soros, but I haven't seen anything about his funding of DSUSA. Do you have any links?

The Soros Connection....

Postby dragon » Sun Dec 31, 2006 1:00 am

You can bet that if George Soros is working with the socialists, and especially if he's funding them, then he's there to make certain that socialism as an idea does not succeed.

I'd like to see the working folks get the kind of socialism that big capital gets. They're the ones on welfare!

They send the sons and daughters of the proletariat to steal oil or some other resource from another country so that they can go in and claim it for themselves and sell that resource back to the people who bled and died to give it to them. What a deal!

Dennis is for free education and health care. That's socialism, I guess, but it sure beats the system we have now, where we pay them to poison and experiment on us. Health care? How about we all have the same level of health care coverage that congress gets? Is that socialism, when they get it? Or is it just Animal Farm economics, where all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others?

Socialism is a trigger word. It is meant to produce a knee-jerk reaction, an automatic rejection without thinking. Why? Because the controllers fear it, that's why. They fear a nation of people that look out for each other, and not available as prey for the social Darwinist upper class.

If I was running for president, or even for governor, my health care plan would be similar to Dennis', with one added feature. I'd get the government moving in the direction of teaching people to take responsibility for their own health, and make sure that they were made aware of the things that cause ill health as a preventive measure, and the natural practices that cure bad health.

You'd have to support allopathic medicine in the interim until people got used to the idea of being in charge of their lives. Allopathic medicine, as we know it today, would fade into obscurity.

Empowering the people in a mutually supportive system is my idea of socialism. Dennis is a good man, I've been to his rallys. You should have seen the orbs in the photos taken at those rallys! Postive energy in abundance.

If that's "socialism", then bring it on. But you'll never get orbs out of anything George Soros is involved with. Noam Chomsky either, but he's another story.

This thread started as a discussion about Dennis K's ideas. I hope this gets it back on track.

Yah! Dragon! It's too bad people have been brainwashed into reacting with hostility to the word "socialism". If we're talking the kind of socialism of Canada and Scandinavian countries in the 60s and 70s, then we're talking about the government using national revenues, including income taxes on the rich, to ensure that all citizens have access to good health care, a good education, good housing, a guaranteed financial safety net, effective union representation and lots of public services.

Surely that beats the current system in the US, where the government is spending billions of dollars every week on bloody wars that benefit nobody but well-connected military contractors? Where big pharma and big media and big food and big oil gorge themselves at the public trough while ordinary citizens go hungry and sometimes homeless, or cannot afford basic health-care? Where the public education system is steadily deteriorating, some schools in inner cities resembling war-torn neighborhoods in the Third World, while the cost of a private-school and college education skyrocket beyond the annual income of most middle-class families? All this in the (by far) richest country in the world?

Like you said, Dragon, congressmen just love socialism when it means they get subsidized everything, including a free medical plan and a great pension -- just don't call it that. And they get VERY passionate in their struggle to make sure ordinary American people don't get to enjoy the perks they get as their reward for "representing" :D the American people...

Jeff, The OPEN SOCIETY INSTITUTE is a Soros organization. They have funded the Democratic Socialists of America for many years. I have known about this for some time now just from reading here and there.

I did find one link that mentions this:

Bogdan Denitch, who had political aspirations in Croatia, was active within the Open Society Institute, and received OSI funding. 36 Denitch favored the ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Croatia, NATO bombing of Bosnia and then Yugoslavia, and even a ground invasion of Yugoslavia. 37 Denitch was a founder and chair for many years of the Democratic Socialists of America, a leading liberal-left group in the U.S. He has also long chaired the prestigious Socialist Scholars Conference, through which he was key to manipulating the sympathies of many toward support for NATO expansion. 38 Other Soros targets for support include Refuse and Resist the ACLU, and a host of other liberal causes. 39 Soros added another unlikely trophy when he became involved in the New School for Social Research in New York, long an academy of choice for left intellectuals. He now funds the East and Central Europe Program there.

I dunno, Bernie Sanders has done a lot of good for my home state, I'm all about the socialist programs that saved my friend's family farms, and the socialist programs that give my friend's kids free health care (thanks Howard Dean!), and the socialist programs that ran our socialist schools prior to the dark ages of Leave No Child Unscathed.

Although I disagree with socialism in theory, it sure seems to click in practice.
