Fran Drescher Believes She Was Abducted By Aliens

The nanny from Flushing, Fran Drescher, may in fact be the nanny from outer space. That's if you believe the actress' dramatic story about being abducted by aliens -- something she truly believes happened to her.

"You know, it's funny because Peter (Fran's ex-husband) and I both saw [aliens] before we knew each other, doing the same thing, driving on the road with our dads," Fran tells me, in all seriousness. "We were both in junior high. A few years later, we met, and we realized that we had the same experience. I think that somehow we were programmed to meet. We both have this scar. It's the exact same scar on the exact same spot."

But ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson wasn't so convinced of the couple's extraterrestrial pasts. He says Fran got the small scar on her hand from a a drill bit or burning herself holding a hot cup of water. But Fran says, no way.

"I said to him, that's what the aliens programmed us to think," Fran explains. "But really, that's where the chip is."

Do we need to pull out Martin Cannon?

Here's what Wiki has to say about Fran's dad:

Drescher was born in Flushing, Queens, New York,[1] the daughter of Sylvia, a bridal consultant, and Morty Drescher, a naval systems analyst.

Re: Fran Drescher 'Abducted by Aliens'

Fran's husband was Peter Marc Jacobson.

Jacobson and Fran Drescher married in 1978, when both were 21 years old. They moved to Los Angeles to launch their careers. In January 1985, two armed robbers broke into Drescher and Jacobson's Los Angeles apartment, where Jacobson was assaulted and forced to watch his wife's rape.

So far I can't find any info on his parents.

I'm trying to see if there are any stories contemporary of the time that may shed some light on this. The first hits about Drescher that deal with her are bound to Hollywood director and producer Floyd Mutrux who wrote Mulholland Falls.

It's pretty meta, but there could be some grist there. It could go into a little of the Laurel Canyon phenomenon, is what I'm saying. Since her exposure with him started as you said, Sunny, in 1978 and then Mutrux went on to write:

In the early 1950s, a four-man squad of unorthodox Los Angeles Police Department detectives begins throwing its weight around by tossing Jack Flynn (William L. Petersen), a suspected organized crime figure, off a cliff on Mulholland Drive, nicknamed "Mulholland Falls" for all the men they have tossed off it. Detective Maxwell Hoover (Nick Nolte) and his partners Coolidge (Chazz Palminteri), Hall (Michael Madsen), and Relyea (Chris Penn) are called to investigate a suspicious death of a young woman found at a construction site. The evidence shows that every bone in her body is broken. A coroner deduces that she looks like she "jumped off a cliff," although there are no cliffs nearby. The woman is later identified to be an aspiring actress, Allison Pond (Jennifer Connelly).

The detectives receive a film of Allison having sex in a motel room, taken by a secretly hidden camera behind a one-way mirror. Allison's gay friend Jimmy Fields (Andrew McCarthy) admits to making this film and more but he is murdered before he can reveal more information. Radioactive glass is found in Allison's foot, which leads the detectives to the Nevada Atomic Testing Site, where they illegally break in and investigate. Colonel Fitzgerald (Treat Williams) threatens to lock up the police officers, warning them that they have no authority there. The man in the film with Allison proves to be the civilian commander of the secret base, retired General Thomas Timms (John Malkovich), now head of the Atomic Energy Commission. Max's marriage to Kate (Melanie Griffith) is jeopardized by someone desperate to retrieve the film, a blackmailer who sends Kate a copy of a film showing her husband and Allison having sex in the same motel room.

Despite the FBI's attempt to persuade the LAPD's Chief (Bruce Dern) and his squad to drop the case, further investigation leads the detectives to the "atomic soldiers" used as guinea pigs for atomic bomb tests, now dying in a secret military hospital. Images of them also were captured on a film made by Jimmy Fields. Max and his partner Ellery Coolidge board a C-47 cargo airplane with Colonel Fitzgerald and his aide (Kyle Chandler) to return to Los Angeles. During the flight, Max tells Coolidge that Fitzgerald is going to kill them by throwing them off the airplane in mid-air, the same way that Allison Pond died. In a vicious struggle, the detectives fight for their lives during a shoot-out on the airplane. Fitzgerald is thrown off by Max, falling to his death. The pilot is fatally shot but manages to crash land. Coolidge dies of a bullet wound after surviving the crash.

Max cannot reconcile with his wife at the funeral because she feels betrayed and heartbroken. At the cemetery, where he explains that his unit has been disbanded, she walks out on Max for good.

Of note, is Bruce Dern's role in the film and that he happens to be the father of David Lynch's fave actress, Laura Dern, who of course went on to make Mulholland Drive. Dave McGowan sure opened a pandora's box!

Fuck, perhaps Lynch's Mulholland Drive is based on Drescher! The more I think about it and knowing the film fairly intimately. . .

It fits the bill. She moved there in her early 20s in the late 1970's. We all know how impressionable kids are when thrown into any kind of mix let alone one of stardom and Hollywood itself.

The plot thickens as I am going after this Mutrux angle and Drescher's age at the time given the access to archives. But I just found this using

Mutrux + Aliens

L. Ron Hubbard's strategy for success since 1955, when he launched "Project Celebrity" by printing a wish list that included Orson Welles, Danny Kaye, James Stewart, Greta Garbo, Walt Disney, Darryl F. Zanuck, Cecil B. DeMille, and many others. Scientology's Ability magazine printed detailed instructions for hunting them down. "If you want one of these, write us at once, giving the ONE celebrity you have selected. We will then allocate this person to you as your game. Having been awarded one of these celebrities, it will be up to you to learn what you can about your quarry and then put yourself at every hand across his or her path...." The order concluded: "These celebrities are well guarded, well barricaded, overworked, aloof quarry. If you bring one of them home, you will get a small plaque as a reward."

Nearly 40 years later, Scientology has arrived in Hollywood in a big way. The list of celebrity Scientologists now includes Cruise, Kidman, Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie Presley, Anne Archer, Juliette Lewis, Kelly Preston, John Travolta, Mimi Rogers, Karen Black, and Kirstie Alley. There are dozens of lesser-known Scientologists in show biz as well: Lee Purcell (Big Wednesday), Jeff Pomerantz (General Hospital), Geoffrey Lewis (Juliette's dad, who was in Every Which Way but Loose, among other movies), Judy Norton-Taylor (The Waltons), Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson), child TV actor Vonni Ribisi (My Two Dads), Michael Wiseman (Predator 2), Kimberley Kates (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure), Michael D. Roberts (Rain Man), and Gary Imhoff (the forthcoming Thumbelina). Then there are the behind-the-scenes talents: Dick Tracy screenwriter Floyd Mutrux; composer Mark Isham (A River Runs Through It); actor and acting teacher Manu Tupou (Hawaii); and director Dror Soref (The Seventh Coin), who cut his teeth on Scientology films and now has a deal at Paramount. Scientology even claims one of Hollywood's most successful acting teachers, Milton Katselas, who heads the Beverly Hills Playhouse. People who have drifted through Scientology include Jerry Seinfeld, Patrick Swayze, Top Gun producer Don Simpson, Harvey Haber (brother of CAA cofounder Bill Haber), actor Brad Pitt, and Ernest Lehman, screenwriter of The Sound of Music.

FWIW she has a reputation in the business for being a truly wretched person. Right up there with barbara walters, courtney love (who takes top honors, although she might share it with tom sizemore and eric roberts), and bill cosby.

She might just be nuts. Considering that I used to think she was really attractive she's probably nuts. I love the crazy ones.

Aww Nordic, I hate to hear that. I always thought/hoped? she was pretty much like her Nanny character.

Thanks for the info 82_28, I'm intrigued and can definitely see the eerie parallels.

Note, Chris Penn also had a role in Mulholland Falls.

Chris Penn death mystery
The cause of actor Chris Penn's death is still unknown, despite an autopsy performed yesterday (26.01.06).

Toxicology tests were ordered on the 'Reservoir Dogs' star, who was found dead in his Santa Monica home on Tuesday (24.01.06).

It is still not clear how he passed away, but Los Angeles police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Los Angeles county coroner's spokeswoman Brenda Shafer said: "An autopsy is just normal procedure for someone who's 40 and has not seen their doctor recently."

Penn's latest film - 'The Darwin Awards' - premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on the day of his autopsy.

Writer-director Finn Taylor paid his respects to the actor after the screening.

He said: "Chris gave an incredible performance in the film.

"I think he is going to be remembered for years to come and we will miss him."

Penn was the younger brother of Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn.

He appeared in numerous films, including 'Starsky & Hutch', 'Rush Hour' and 'True Romance'.

Oh boy, upon further searching (with very basic search terms) I have come upon this (which we've probably all read already):

The Quaid Conspiracy

They’re spending nights in their car, on the run from the same shadowy cabal—“the Hollywood Star Whackers”—who may have killed Heath Ledger, possibly sabotaged Jeremy Piven, and could now be targeting Lindsay Lohan. No, this is not the plot of Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Randy Quaid’s latest movie. It is what he and his wife, Evi, swear is really happening to them. With the Quaids in Canada, the author probes their nightmare reality, which has alienated friends and family, and turned the couple into outlaws.

It's funny how the Internet maximizes the amount of connections able to be made available -- I wouldn't have been able to tie a very young Drescher to Mutrux in 1978 and then on to Penn and then on to Lynch without the time machine of OCR technology. No wonder the industry all these people work for and control want it shut down.

Though, I'm probably whistling in a graveyard. But, probably not. I think there's something here.

Mulholland Falls is not Mulholland Drive

Mulholland Falls wiki says it w as written by Pete Dexter who has a fairly interesting page as well. Lesson learned, stay the hell away from mobs, and don't bring one boxer to help.

You're exactly right Drew. I am well aware Drive is different from Falls. There's still one Mulholland though.

Screenplay by Pete Dexter
Story by Pete Dexter
Floyd Mutrux

196x: Alien abduction or something, in presence of Navy father
1979: Moved to LA
1982: "pretty open minded"
1985: brutal rape in her own home by armed assailants while husband forced to watch
Since: reputation for being a truly wretched person.

Idunno, it kind of flows that she might not have handled that very well, deep down inside.

ah yes, I see his story credit on imdb. He also wrote this American Grafiti know-off, The Hollywood Knights in 1980, which makes me wonder if that's where the New Bomb Turks got their name. (and having looked it up, yes it is)

and she was in American Hot Wax, directed by Mutrux in 1978

On September 28, 2009, she released a single entitled "Eye For An Eye"
