I took a random Icke book ("...And the truth shall set you free"), and jumped to a random page. This is what I found:

A contact who has worked on the 'inside' of government and security agencies in the UK told me a story which relates both to Sumer and the themes of an extraterrestrial takeover. He says that in the 1960s the British intelligence agencies produced a secret report detailing claims of extraterrestrial sightings. This involved interviewing 1,800 people in Europe and Scandinavia who claimed to have seen a UFO, an extraterrestrial, or had contact with beings from another world. At the same time, he says, similar surveys were being compiled in the United States, the
Soviet Union, Australia and Japan. Eventually they pooled their findings and this made available some 62,000 interviews with people across the globe. Firstly, the vast, vast majority of the stories told of positive, loving communications with the ETs of various races. This is so different to the "evil aliens" stories we see in the media. Secondly, about 75% of those interviewed all over the world apparently told the same basic story. They said that the ETs told them how a planet called
Melchedek had once existed in our solar system, but the Melchedekans had become obsessed with the material world and they destroyed their environment. In the end they exploded so many nuclear devices during tests and conflicts that the planet broke apart and itself exploded. The asteroid belt was said to be part of the remnants of Melchedek.

The bolded bit is where I burst out laughing. If you're going to write science fiction, at least try to understand some basics about physics and stuff and don't just make shit up.

AD, you very long post is unreadable without great effort. It has lost its formatting.

Mr. WRex, thank you. However my firefox 3.0.19 such an icon does not appear. Nor does the icon appear in my Safari Version 4.1.3 (4533.19.4) browser.

Is it possible to also embed a link to each posting in its time-stamp?

AD, it seems to be a problem with my firefox browser as your posting appears fine in Safari. (But no link icon)

I found it here: http://tribes.tribe.net/conspiracypuree ... b65ba8223b and formatted it myself.

I did the best job I could (it took a lot of work)- sorry for any glitches or errors.

And I do believe that the link is in there, up towards the top.

Ok, I got it now. The icon appears in my browser as an asterisk just before the poster's name. Thank you Mr. WRex.
In the future I will switch browsers whenever I come across such formatting errors in firefox to safari. My apologies, AD.

On edit: yes AD, the problem was on my end and no fault of yours. The formatting appears fine when visiting your linked-to source.

AD, having felt compelled to read your last article by Sounders earlier reflections and courtesy of the resulting feelings it inspired in me, I have to say its about one of the best articles I've ever read regarding the whole conspirituality culturre This might sound like a very shallow honour when I tell you thats because its the first, but I thought it was a pretty good damn read.. I could go on for a while about why I found this a very compelling commentary, but instead , i'll just offer you my own personal favourite.

Icke has tapped into the utopian longings of the masses in a potentially liberatory way.

The reason Ive picked that quote out not only because I happen to believe it too, but also because it has me seriously wondering whether this in itself would actually work out for the better?

Didnt some famous Irish commentator once saiy that the day after the revolution, someone has to start placing the first stone?

Most of the stones in our current age are of course already in place, but do we have the Political architects to move them around in the required intricate fashion?

Do we truly have the capablity to do this for the common good?

Now theres a discussion

To my mind, for what its worth, the answer to that lies very much in the nature of the revolution itself. To me that is truly where the danger lies.
Many understand the general conspiracy to be wrong in a big way, but do we as individual human beings have the accompanying spiritual requirement to make the changes we so desperately need.

Yes slim- I liked the article too- thought it culturally informed and respectful- and might possibly agree with the statement that "Icke has tapped into the utopian longings of the masses in a potentially liberatory way." but as to what could possibly makes the difference with that potential, we all know who is lurking in the details...

In reply to this posting by slad who in part wrote:

first of all let me address the whacko comment

you said:
While he certainly does have his followers, many newcomers to RI will only have to read his name before passing, writing off RI as yet another 'whacko' site.

[b]now just what does that mean....whacko site? To me it means the people that post there must be whackos, the site is comprised of posters and those posters must be whackos if they are posting at a whacko site......sorry that's just how I see it. I posted David Icke's name and in your way of thinking I must be a whacko....that's how I took it you didn't need to call me a whacko directly you just implied I was if I was going to post Icke ....so there's the clarification for you. If you did not mean I was a whacko fine I will accept that and maybe you can accept how I was mistaken. I must admit I was furious with you for suggesting the lounge was the better place for Icke and that might have clouded my judgement.

Well, I am sorry you so misinterpreted the meaning of what I wrote. But you should be well aware that I would not hesitate in actually calling you whacky or whacko had I felt that way. I'm not at all that modest, you may have noticed, and always speak my mind as drawn from and based upon my life experience.

Seeing Icke content being posted here other visitors to RI might immediately dismiss RI as worthwhile of their time without deeper digging. It's Icky that's whacko and much of his stated opinions are completely whacky. Imo.

Do you think for a moment I would insult our host or any of our brilliant posters by calling them and myself whacky? I guess you did. And it's saddening for me to read someone has so badly misinterpreted what I've written. Which brings me first to my insecurity of my writing ability, as I write poorly. "Was I unclear?" Could I have better expressed myself?"

I come here to learn of things I'm unaware of and long ago came to the conclusion that there was nothing of value for me to be found reading Icke's nonsense. I accept that you do not feel this way about him. But if I ever had an urge to visit his site, which would financially benefit him, I would go there and not here to read his nonsense. Lastly, Neither did my comment indirectly or directly imply you were whacko or whacky, but I do appreciation, sorta, your clarification. Sorta, because I feel you have the intellect to have grasped my true meaning initially.

I know what means I've been around a long long time and I know tactics I know what AD is doing just like I know what brainy is doing...now I don't believe you were consciously doing the same thing as those two so I am sorry to you for lumping you in with those two but you never have chastised them for their tactics ...not sure if you agree with them or not.....about tactics that is

I am sorry for misunderstanding you.... I hope you will consider the whole big picture content

I post far too infrequently to have a full understanding of the interpersonal relationships to keep track of who likes whom. I read only a tiny portion of the postings; only those that I have some interest in. I don't think I've ever communicated privately with either AD or BPH and if there are some devious tactics at play, I have been oblivious to them. Ya just can't reprimand someone for something you're unaware of.

I thank you for your apology for misunderstanding me, but I don't think I'll ever be able to grasp the big picture here or anywhere!

I am sorry too, that we feel so differently about Icke. I am also sorry you felt I had insulted you.

Edited to add this reply to slad's comment here,
I didn't derail the thread I was answering a question from a MOD

I should hope that in the future such exchanges with the mods be conducted via PM.

I am critical of David Icke's: Holocaust Revisionism, pro-Protocols comments, Rothschild Theory, that sort of thing. I don't comment on this much- witness the last 3 Icke threads- but this does not stop slad from baiting me endlessly about Holocausts: "Here's another holocaust you never mentioned!", as if it proves my nefarious intentions.

When I do respond to her endless invective about this- as I did on this thread- then she can cry, "See you are obsessed with one holocaust only!" Never mind that I post regarding literally hundreds of genocides- of all sorts- on a regular basis, on the Economic Aspects of "Love" thread.

Apparently, slad sees this all as a clever plot to defame Icke unfairly (and maybe defame her also?), which is so far off base that I will be kind and not comment on it further at this time...

Yes, "the devil", to borrow thie symbological metaphor, is in us all.

Do I have the courage, wisdom, determination, compassion, understanding and the abiliity to truly take responsibility for myself that Im gonna need if we're gonna get the job done?

I just like the idea of a world where all people were allowed the time and freedom to think a lot more about who and what we are, and to truly express themselves however they chose, actually including the harm thing - where of course it was mutually consented to by the parties involved. You see, thats their choice, and as such none of anyone elses business.

All of this more productive use of time however doesnt of course mean that nobody has to work.

That said, Life should be a great adventure, not the global fucking rat race that it is, I also have little doubt that we probably currently possess the technology to turn that around pretty damn quick. Not, you understand with Google attatchments into your mind which take you to the virtual countrside "to enjoy nature", but with "free" energy devices. If Im wrong in my timeframe regarding the latter, then we can make the current available resources both far more efficient, and inexpensive in the very short meantime.

Why all the arguing? Can't we just admit that like Alex Jones, Icke has his moments?

How can you not be entertained by these two gems?

Jonathan Kay: Where Israel hatred meets space lizards

Jonathan Kay | 13/06/07

Alice Walker praised David Icke’s Human Race Get Off Your Knees as “amazing,” “stunning,” “magical,” and “profound.”

Last week, Commentary magazine’s Jonathan Tobin criticized the 92nd Street Y in New York City — that “venerable Jewish institution,” as Tobin described it — for hosting Pulitzer-prize winning novelist Alice Walker in a dialogue with Vagina Monologues author Eve Ensler. Plenty of artists and celebrities express solidarity with the Palestinian cause. But as Tobin noted, few go as far as Walker, who actually refused to let The Color Purple be translated into Hebrew, and seeks to prevent Israeli performers from visiting the United States.

Tobin argues that defenders of the 92nd Street Y’s event are relying on an intellectual distinction between traditional anti-Semitism and strident anti-Israeli activism — and his May 29 blog post was largely an attack on that premise. But it’s important to note that even if one accepts this intellectual distinction, some of Walker’s recent musings about world-domination plots still serve to disqualify her from the mainstream marketplace of ideas.

Indeed, they are stunningly offensive. And her millions of fans, including those who don’t care anything about Israel, might be interested to know what they are.

Earlier this year, Walker wrote a post on her personal blog entitled “Human Race Get Off Your Knees: I couldn’t have put it better myself.” Students of conspiracy theories will recognize “Human Race Get Off Your Knees” as the title of a 2010 book by British paranoiac David Icke, a one-time professional soccer player who has spent the last two decades promoting the idea that Planet Earth is secretly controlled by giant inter-dimensional lizards who have taken human form (Queen Elizabeth and Bob Hope being two examples he has supplied), and operate terrestrially through a Dan Brown-esque secret society called “the Babylonian Brotherhood,” whose offshoots include the CIA and Mossad.

‘David Icke reminded me of Malcolm X,’ she adds — especially Malcolm X’s quality of ‘fearlessness’

Yet, according to Ms. Walker, David Icke’s Human Race Get Off Your Knees is “amazing,” “stunning,” “magical,” “profound” and “the ultimate reading adventure.” Indeed, Walker reports, it “was the first time I was able to observe, and mostly imagine and comprehend, the root of the incredible evil that has engulfed our planet.”

“David Icke reminded me of Malcolm X,” she adds — especially Malcolm X’s quality of “fearlessness.”

One of Icke’s theories is that the reptilian invaders (the “Annunaki”) came to Earth to harvest a special type of gold — which apparently can turbocharge their lizard nervous systems by many orders of magnitude. This detail really resonates with Alice Walker, who sees comparisons with Earth’s own colonial history: “They [the lizards] wanted gold and they wanted slaves to mine it for them. Now gosh, who does this remind us of? I only am asking …”

In fact, the idea of some “alien” race seeking to rule the world by monopolizing the gold supply isn’t original to David Icke. It is a common theme in all sorts of conspiracist literature — including the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which presented its imaginary Jewish authors as declaring: “In our hands is the greatest power of our day — gold: In two days we can procure from our storehouses any quantity we may please.”

As it turns out, the “amazing,” “stunning,” “magical,” “profound” David Icke is a long-time student of the Protocols: He has cited the Protocols respectfully dozens of times in his writings — including in Human Race Get Off Your Knees. Icke claims that he isn’t quite sure whether the Protocols are genuine, or even whether they’re about Jews (he has sometimes argued that the Protocols are actually about the Illuminati, though it’s unclear where, in his mind, one group ends, and the other begins). But, in the final analysis, Icke claims on page 127 of Human Race Get Off Your Knees, the Protocols “tell the detailed story of the last hundred years before it happened.”

Icke is extremely concerned with the genetic origins of Jews, in order to trace their role (as he sees it) in the rise of the universe-controlling Babylonian lizard-men who infiltrated the human race though Middle Eastern intermarriage. But, having been stung by accusations of anti-Semitism in the past, Icke generally prefers to use the term “Rothschild Zionist” to “Jew.” (The very notion of Jewish “history,” as we know it, Icke writes, is “a manufactured lie to serve the interests of the House of Rothschild and the Illuminati family network” — which, he warns us, seeks to establish a “global fascist/communist dictatorship.”)

Large tracts of Human Race Get Off Your Knees consist of lists of companies, NGOs and media organizations that Icke says are controlled by “the Rothschild-Zionist network”

Indeed, Human Race Get Off Your Knees is chock-full of tales of these apparently despicable “Rothschild Zionists,” including long sections devoted to the evils they have inflicted on the Palestinians. Presumably, this is one of the aspects of the book that made it such a page-turner for Ms. Walker.

Large tracts of Human Race Get Off Your Knees consist of lists of companies, NGOs and media organizations that Icke says are controlled by “the Rothschild-Zionist network” and its “satanic black magicians.” The “Rothschild Zionists” were behind the rise of Hitler and Stalin, he argues, as well as the assassination of Lincoln. There are also even more bizarre tangents, such as where Icke declares that “the House of Saud is a fake front for the House of Rothschild and they are not ‘Arabs’ or ‘Muslims’ at all. They are Rothschild Zionists who can be traced back to a Jewish man … in the year AD 851.”

I could supply hundreds of more examples from this one book alone — one of 19 that Icke has written — all filled with exactly this sort of hateful, hallucinogenic nonsense. And it says a lot about Alice Walker that she came away from this material inspired instead of repelled.

In a free society, David Icke should be free to say such things. And Alice Walker should be free to praise him for it. But let us not pretend that either of these two people are opponents of mere “Zionism”: It is clearly a much darker and more repellent form of thinking that is at play here. And it unclear why an illustrious institution such as the 92nd Street Y should want to give a forum to anyone who exhibits it.
