I do!

Ha ha, thanks guys, I hope you had a laugh. We all could stand to take the Internet a little less seriously some days.

I just saw marmot's Calvin & Hobbes hug image on the Free Association thread and thought of all the blanked-out Calvin & Hobbes cartoons I had lying around from an earlier inspiration/project and popped some funny text in there...

Hear hear. I know I don't contribute very much meat to the board in the sense of posting real research and so on, but I spend probably an hour a day reading the board and things that I've found linked to on it, and have learnt a hell of a lot. Maybe as the fucking narcissists leave (definite mote in thy brother's eye vibe going on there) lurkers, irregular posters and lazy ones like me will contribute more. We'll see, won't we?

And Hugh - you know, it's cool that you have this mission to make everyone think about the important things, but you can't moan that people are hostile to your KWH free-association riffs and then turn around and be hostile to people who want to discuss UFOs and crop circles. I don't like it when people tell you to "peddle your crazy somewhere else", and I don't like it when you barge into those threads and say they're an embarrassment.

You're missed Jeff, but only cause we look forward to when you're fully back with us.

Cheers,

I'd been resisting posting in this thread, but have to say thanks to §ê¢rꆧ for the C&H strip!

Of course, now that I'm here, I feel compelled to say something on topic.

Like many, I tend to lurk more than post, and due to time constraints (and a neurosis or two) I tend not to PM much or establish any kind of personal contact with folks on the board, but I still consider this place to be an invaluable resource for information that might otherwise slip beneath my radar, and also as a reminder that I'm not crazy, and that other people out there are seeing the same things I do (or, at the very least, that there are people out there that share in my delusions).

In any case, farewell et in Arcadia ego. I can't say that I agree with your overall perception of what this place has become, but I'll miss seeing you here nonetheless.

And best of luck to you too, Vigilant. Hope you don't stay away too long.

Jeff, just do what you gotta do to stay healthy and sane for yourself and your family. I'm not nearly as involved here as many are, and even I need to come up for air now and then.

And a sincere thanks to all the distinct voices out there who make this place so fascinating, frustrating, frightening and funny.
If you can't laugh at yourself, then everyone else will.

@ Jeff: glad to know you are doing well!

And a sincere thanks to all the distinct voices out there who make this place so fascinating, frustrating, frightening and funny.

Thanks for the posts et in Arcadia ego and Vigilant.

I do wish more lurkers would pipe up and try out their voice.

And §ê¢rꆧ, it's the kind of thing that you posted that makes this site worth coming back too, so thanks.
All these things will continue as long as coercion remains a central element of our mentality.

Well, I'm gonna go, then.

I don't need any of this!
I don't need this stuff!

And I don't need you!
I don't need anything!

Except this.

This ashtray.
That's the only thing I need is this!
I don't need this or this!
Just this ashtray!

And this paddle game.
The ashtray and the paddle game
and that's all I need.

And this remote control.
The ashtray, the paddle game
and the remote control. That's all I need.

And these matches.

The ashtray, these matches
the remote control and the paddle ball.
And this lamp.

The ashtray...

...this paddle game, the remote control...

...and the lamp, and that's all I need.

And that's all I need, too!
I don't need one other thing!
Not one. I need this. The paddle game, the chair...

...the remote control
and the matches, for sure.

What are you looking at?

What do you think I am,
some kind of a jerk or something?

And this.
That's all I need.

Except the ashtray,
the remote control, the paddle game...
...this magazine and the chair.

I don't need one other thing.
Except my dog.

Well, I don't need my dog.

So, that's it.

Yeah, let me take this opportunity to express my sincere love and appreciation to you all. And especially in the moment to you vigilant. I'm dead serious when I say: Please Don't Go. You're one of my favorite personalities here. But I do realize that it's an incredibly time intensive activity drafting your posts as you do. Thank you for all you've given us.

I don't want to start calling out names because I'll inevitably leave people out. But there's no place like RI. There's so many good hearts and minds here. And this board is still so very young. Lurkers basking beside the RIver, please jump on in and post.

iI can't see Jeff ever dumping this discussion board. If this were even a consideration I hope he'd pass it along to a worthy someone to continue.
