Hugo,

I agree with your contention, but it is our fault, really, because we allowed them to drill this well.

We allowed the corruption to occur that bought off regulators and simply put, most take the perpetuity of our environs as something guaranteed by god and certainly not seriously enough to take safe measures to assure the well-being and conservation of our life-sustaining natural resources for our and future generations.

I've always been opposed to off-shore drilling. Maybe that's because I was raised by the ocean, but it's always seemed far too risky.

PROCLAMATION BY THE
Governor of the State of Texas


TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME:

I, RICK PERRY, Governor of Texas, do hereby certify that Tropical Storm Alex poses a threat of imminent disaster along the Texas Coast in the counties of Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Cameron, Duval, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Starr, Webb, Willacy and Zapata beginning June 27, 2010, and continuing. In addition, I have also requested the following counties to assist in state response: Atascosa, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Medina and Wilson.

THEREFORE, in accordance with the authority vested in me by Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code, I do hereby declare a state of disaster in the counties listed above based on the existence of such a threat, and direct that all necessary measures, both public and private, as authorized under Section 418.017 of the code be implemented to meet that threat.

As provided in Section 418.016 of the code, all rules and regulations that may inhibit or prevent prompt response to this threat are suspended for the duration of the incident.

In accordance with the statutory requirements, copies of this proclamation shall be filed with the applicable authorities.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto signed my name and have officially caused the Seal of State to be affixed at my Office in the City of Austin, Texas, this the 28th day of June, 2010.
