i've never believed the john o'neill story.
too much public dirty laundry, too much "lucky timing" and too much disney hero stuff.

dirty laundry-the trouble in yemen between o'neill and barbara bodine was too well publicized. if it had been a real problem we would have never heard about it.
the same with the "losing his briefcase story". iirc the nyt ran 2 stories about it.
lucky timing-then the uncanny timing of leaving the fbi and taking a job at the wtc. a job arranged by j hauer of saic, kroll, nycoem, dhs fame; our mystery man #1.
it all fits too neatly to provide an excuse to have him on site during the event.
disney/hero crap-and then o'neill having his last supper with rudy on 9/10/2001 before he's tragically killed the next morning by the evil obl.
but his family never id's the body. j hauer(or rudy in 1 version i read) id's it to spare them the trauma. and i swear at 1 time i found 2 gravesites for him.
so now the fbi's #1 obl man is gone, no messy questions to answer. and he really did disappear. considering his stature in life the relative absence of reference to him in the official report is noteable.
i know it's all just opinion but his entire story seems too neat.
