Are we evolving into economic stray dogs so that we could learn: a) how to be more tolerant of each other, and; b) trust intelligent leaders more than dominant/strong ones?

Next question: How do tell if we have found an intelligent leader? Meantime, I'll keep searching.

My old German Shephard mix was a peacekeeper. She would break up fights between other dogs, would just throw herself between the two dogs and physically separate them. She just didn't like fighting.

My old girlfriend at the time and I would mess with her sometimes, too, and we'd pretend to fight and she'd do the same to us. Leap right up between us and bark and make sure we separated. We thought it was very funny, but we wouldn't do it too much, because the dog would seem pretty stressed out about it. We'd pet her and hug her and tell her what a good dog she was to make her feel better.

Then my girlfriend's dog, which was this same little dog who could climb over fences and chase me down the street (mentioned earlier) would protect just her. He was a one-person dog. I could get him to leap at me by glaring at my girlfriend and holding up my hands like I was shooting laserbeams out of my fingers and slowly moving toward her, and he would bark and snarl and try to jump up and bite my hands.

I am wondering if the diff between stray dogs and wolves is kind like a reflection on the difference between people who have been raised in a traditional tribal culture before mass communication and contact (more than just trade) with multiple other groups, and people raised in cultures that are bigger than tribes.

It almost seems like a mirror of the same process.
