Ok, Coincidence has once again become providential. Much discussion has been engaged in as to whether Ted was indeed one of Murray's test subjects while at Harvard. We know he was, but because a pseudonym was used during the "experiments" we couldn't be sure he was victimized by Murray's madness. Seems someone's had access to some files 'that no longer exist.' They have identified Ted's Pseudonym. (Lougher or Loughner, not sure, going be my poor memory some two weeks after listening)
The following podcast I heard when first aired, but never knew its source. I'm unable to listen due to my slow connection, so I can't point out where in the timeline of stories related to Murray begins.
Perhaps one of you with a much faster connection could locate the beginning time-stamp for this podcast and share it with us so other needn't listen to unrelated stories?

Oops. In this hour of Radiolab, stories of unintended consequences.
You come up with a great idea. You devise a plan. You control for every imaginable variable. And once everything’s in place, the train hops your carefully laid tracks. In this episode, one psychologist's zeal to safeguard national security may have created a terrorist, while one community's efforts to protect an endangered bird had deadly consequences. And against all odds, a toxic lake spawns new life.
