No apology necessary. I was not offended. Nor do I think barracuda was either I imagine.

I just thought it was odd to see that quote placed in the RI Quotes Only thread out of it's context.

I'm not sure what to make of this story.

On the one hand I agree with Justdrew -

I don't see any great Intent to Deceive here, far from it, they were/are providing 'ceremonies' - an inherently symbolic activity. The "upset ones" seem to be attendees who feel they're getting ripped off since the remains have already been back and worked on to identify, and they wanted to get "peak merits" for saluting the second they land. It's a subtle distinction and I'm sorry, but I find it cry-baby entitled bullshit. The remains arrive when they arrive. Do they want called at midnight saying a plane will be landing with remains at 3:03 on runway 4-2? come on. I mean, come on. If these upset ones want to really make a difference, donate some money to families of the dead. and/or don't turn solemn ceremonies into another excuse for rage-aholics to binge on.
Except I think that there is intent to deceive.

And I agree with this:

That the ceremony is a lie fits nicely into the hollow lies they died and killed for.

It's hard for me to empathize with people that want to fetishize human remains. Whether the box is empty or filled with Joe's remains that is not Joe in there.
